On a bright (pun intended!) and sunny day in May, Sprint Bioscience had the pleasure of visiting MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, a place that truly feels like an extension of our labs in Flemingsberg. In this article by BioStock - Connecting Innovation & Capital🔗https://biostock.se/en/2026/06/sprint-bioscience-forskar-med-en-av-varldens-ljusstarkaste-rontgenkallor/ you can read more about it.

For Sprint Bioscience, MAX IV plays a central role in our ability to push the boundaries of structure-based drug discovery. Access to a world-leading synchrotron light source, with its exceptional brightness and precision, enables us to generate high-quality structural data that directly accelerates our drug development programs. But beyond the technology itself, the collaboration has strengthened how we work.
By combining structural biology with fragment-based approaches, we can explore multiple chemical tracks in parallel and rapidly identify molecules with promising drug-like properties. This way of working remains relatively rare, not only in Sweden but globally, and gives us a strong strategic advantage.
Rather than relying on traditional high-throughput screening (HTS), we are built on the principle of “designing right from the start.” Structural insights allow us to understand how molecules interact with their target proteins at the atomic level, guiding every iteration in our process. Between each cycle, crystallography helps us confirm: are we on the right path, and are we optimizing in the best possible way? This results in higher-quality programs. When we know exactly how a molecule binds to its target, we can intelligently refine and optimize it. The outcome is not just a single molecule, but a comprehensive package, including lead series, backup series, and valuable intellectual property, that significantly strengthens the value for our partners.
We are proud to collaborate with MAX IV as part of a uniquely strong Swedish innovation ecosystem, where cutting-edge infrastructure, science, and industry come together to drive the next generation of therapies. Our structural biologists and proteincrystallographers Lionel Trésaugues and Wimal Ubhayasekera lead our way forward.

Thanks to MAX IV’s Industrial Relations Office team for an insightful and engaging visit!

Today at AACR 2026 by American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) we are presenting data from our DCPS program, supporting DCPS inhibition as a promising therapeutic strategy for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The findings go beyond efficacy, providing deeper biological insight into DCPS and highlighting its potential role in improving patient stratification. Sprint Bioscience is represented by CSO Martin Andersson and Associate Principal Scientist Madhurendra Singh. Come by and discuss the data with us!

At a time when the global cancer burden continues to rise, scientific progress cannot afford silos, slowdowns, or hesitation. Breakthroughs happen when knowledge is shared, challenged, and accelerated. That is why Sprint Bioscience is proud to participate in the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2026, the world’s largest and most influential cancer research convening.

Ahead of the main meeting, our CSO and co‑founder Martin Andersson participated in the AACR Oncology Industry Partnering Event (April 16–17), engaging with leaders across biotech and pharma. These discussions are where science meets strategy and where discoveries begin their journey toward patients.

The Annual Meeting (April 17–22) is currently underway, where Madhurendra Singh will present new preclinical data from our DCPS program. The poster highlights findings supporting DCPS inhibition as a potential therapeutic strategy for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Beyond efficacy, the data deepens the biological understanding of DCPS and underscore its potential to improve patient stratification.

Events like AACR matter because no single lab, company, or discipline can solve cancer alone. In times of scientific complexity, geopolitical uncertainty, and mounting healthcare pressure, platforms for exchange and collaboration are not optional, they are essential.
Cancer does not wait. Neither can drug discovery.
