Congratulations to Adrian Ahmadi and Hadis Noori from the Computer Engineering program at Halmstad University 👏

They have received the HMS scholarship for their thesis titled “Coordinated Multi-drone Pattern Formation with Crazyflies and Lighthouse Positioning System” 🎓

The thesis presents design, implementation, and evaluation of a coordinated multi-drone formation system using Crazyflie quadcopters and the Lighthouse indoor positioning. The authors implemented various quad formations with low positioning errors and later demonstrated the system’s capability through a fire detection case study using YOLO-based computer vision.

Finally, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed to allow users to select and execute different formations and perform fire-detection without requiring prior coding experience. The proposed system can be applied in various applications with societal benefits such as search and rescue operations and disaster response.

The scholarship was awarded by Hadi Sepehrvand, Development Engineer at HMS Industrial Network Technology Division 🤝

We recently had a visit from HUST - Halmstad University Solar Team, and their solar car "Henry" which they participated with in the world's biggest solar powered race Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia last year 🏎️☀️

The team shared their plans for the upcoming car and insights from previous projects that will help develop the next generation of solar cars.

HMS Networks’ CEO Staffan Dahlström has been awarded the Business Medal 2026 by the King of Sweden 🏅

The nomination reads: “for having developed a business idea and taken it to the world through a combination of research, development and entrepreneurial drive”.

Staffan comments:

“I am incredibly proud of this medal, but at the same time this company is not a one-man show, we have 1,100 employees and we have built this together over a very long time.

‘Which customer problem do I solve’ – that is the most important thing for an entrepreneur, so my advice to young entrepreneurs is to be close to the customers. It is good to have a nice product, but it is even more important to have good customer relations.”

How do you implement a safe remote stop in an AGV or AMR - fast, clean, and compliant with upcoming EU regulations?
 
This was one of the topics discussed when Stefan Kraus, Product Manager for Functional Safety at HMS Networks, attended the AGV NETWORK SAFETY CONFERENCE in Stuttgart last week. The event brought together experts and manufacturers to discuss how new safety technologies and the upcoming EU Machinery Regulation will impact mobile robots and AGV/AMR solutions.
 
During the conference, Stefan presented the session “From Logic to Action: Simplifying CIP Safety Integration in Mobile Machines”, focusing on how pre-certified safety modules can simplify safety integration, reduce development time, and help manufacturers prepare for future requirements.

Today, the office in Halmstad had a tasty event where employees got to try dishes from countries where we have offices 🍽️

The challenge that came with it was that the participants had to guess where the dish originated based solely on taste and appearance.
