"Varm och rörd över att juryn sett varje detalj av vår berättelse, och jag vill tillägna det här priset till alla som tillsammans gjort den här filmen. Precis som juryn vill jag också passa på att lyfta Almas gestaltning av Mia, så full av liv och längtan. En ynnest att arbeta med som regissör", hälsar en mycket glad Malin från Toronto.

I filmen möter vi Mia (spelad av Alma Pöysti) full av både längtan, ansvar och skuld. På parkeringsdäcket till en färja tvingas hon välja mellan sin föräldraplikt och den stora kärlek hon väntat på.

Helmed by a gifted filmmaker, skillfully eliciting an exceptional performance from her lead actress, in service of a nuanced, heartbreaking story, the jury is thrilled to present the award for Best International Short Film to Deck 5B, directed by Malin Ingrid Johansson.”

Our co-production YOUR LIFE WITHOUT ME will have its world premiere in Documentary Competition at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival ❤️‍🔥

YOUR LIFE WITHOUT ME is a feature doc about Magdi (70), a strong-willed but lonely caregiver, who faces a daunting reality as she grows older: if she were to pass away her disabled son would be left to inhumane conditions of the Hungarian state care system, and would quickly follow her…

The film is directed by Anna Rubi and produced by Somnus Film/Hungary in co-production with Cinenic Film, with support from Swedish Film Institute/Jannik Splidsboel. World sales is handled by CAT&Docs.
