The Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI) is a global multi-stakeholder initiative, which aims at enhancing responsible and sustainable fisheries through transparency and participation. Transparency: The FiTI will produce reliable, publicly accessible and generally-accepted information in form of regular country reports as a product of a consultative process. The provision of such country reports are based on a coherent framework, which are currently being developed by the FiTI Secretariat, supported by an International Advisory Group. Participation : The FiTI does not only collect and disseminate relevant information. The FiTI will also enhance credibility of this information through a deliberative process, which involves all major stakeholder groups (i.e. Over time, this approach will build a trust-based, consensus-oriented multi-stakeholder environment for collective action. Increased transparency and multi-stakeholder participation provide a credible basis for national debate and create positive competition and peer pressure amongst countries and companies to enhance responsible fisheries.

La Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI) est une initiative mondiale multipartite qui vise à augmenter la responsabilité et la durabilité des pêches par la transparence et la participation. Transparence : La FiTI produira des informations fiables, publiquement accessibles et généralement acceptées sous la forme de rapports nationaux à l’issue d’un processus consultatif. Ces rapports seront élaborés selon un cadre cohérent qui est en ce moment développé par le Secrétariat de la FiTI avec le soutien du groupe consultatif international. Participation : La FiTI ne se contente pas de réunir et de disséminer des informations choisies. La FiTI augmentera également la crédibilité de ces informations grâce à un processus délibératif regroupant des représentants de toutes les parties prenantes concernées (gouvernement, entreprises, société civile). Avec le temps, cette approche permettra d’établir un environnement multipartite basé sur la confiance et orienté vers le consensus qui soit propice à une action collective. Une plus grande transparence et une participation multipartite constituerons une base crédible pour les débats nationaux. De plus, cette base permettra de créer une concurrence positive et une pression de groupe au sein des pays et des entreprises pour augmenter la responsabilité dans le secteur des pêches.

Enter the Hooked on Transparency social media hackathon for a chance to learn the ins & outs of digital storytelling and fisheries transparency!
This national youth digital content competition invites young people in Seychelles to turn fisheries facts into short, creative and engaging social media stories that people will want to watch, understand and share. You do not need professional equipment or thousands of followers. All you need is the motivation to make a difference, interest in fisheries and social media, and a clear idea for a story worth sharing.
The competition is open to young people who currently live, study or work in Seychelles under two age categories:
🔵 15–17 years
🔵 18–30 years
Entries can be submitted individually or as a team. In order to turn official fisheries data into viral content, participants must choose one of six themes:
🐟 Know Your Fisheries
🔍 Blue Justice
🎣 Fishing for All
🍣 From Ocean to Plate
🛥️ All Hands on Deck
⚖️ Rule of Law
🔵 The competition opens on 31 July 2026.
🔵 Participants will have until 21 August 2026 at 23:59 p.m. Seychelles time to develop and submit their content.
🔵 Entries will be reviewed for eligibility and assessed by a judging panel from 24 to 26 August 2026.
🔵 Selected finalists will then participate in a skill-building workshop from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
During the workshop, finalists will meet fisheries and governance experts and build practical skills in storytelling, filming, editing, voiceovers, storyboarding and digital communication. They will then refine their original work with support from mentors before presenting their final content.

Le 10 août 2026, le GMN de Mauritanie s’est réuni pour passer en r***e le projet du 7ᵉ rapport FiTI, apporter des éclaircissements et convenir d’une feuille de route pour la collecte des informations manquantes, en vue de sa finalisation.

At a recent Regional conference to address corruption and financial crimes in the fisheries sector, attendees recommended strengthenening governance frameworks and reducing corruption vulnerabilities in the fisheries sector by enhancing transparency and public availability of fisheries information through the FiTI Standard!
The conference, which was organised by the UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime with support from the Regjeringen (Norge) and Denmark.dk, brought together more than 50 fisheries authorities, financial intelligence units, anti-corruption bodies, customs, law enforcement, prosecutors, regional organizations, multi-stakeholder platforms, civil society and investigative journalists.

La Secretaría Nacional de FiTI del Ministerio Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca Ecuador, en coordinación con la Dirección del Parque Nacional Galápagos y con el apoyo técnico de la Secretaría Internacional de FiTI, lideró un taller con instituciones públicas, organizaciones pesqueras, academia, sociedad civil y cooperación internacional.
Durante la jornada se presentaron los avances de FiTI en Ecuador, especialmente en la generación de información pesquera pública para Galápagos, y se reconoció el trabajo permanente de las instituciones y representantes del Grupo Nacional Multiactor.
Mediante mesas de trabajo, los participantes identificaron necesidades de información, brechas, oportunidades y acciones para mejorar su publicación, acceso y uso. También se identificaron nuevos datos que podrán incorporarse progresivamente a los espacios públicos de consulta.
El taller fue posible gracias al apoyo de WildAid Latinoamérica y Galápagos Life Fund (GLF), aliados claves para impulsar la coordinación institucional y una gestión pesquera abierta, participativa y basada en información accesible en Galápagos.

El equipo técnico multidisciplinario de la Dirección del Parque Nacional Galápagos (DPNG) participó en una jornada de trabajo orientada a fortalecer la transparencia pesquera en Galápagos.
La actividad fue liderada por la Secretaría Nacional de FiTI Ecuador del Ministerio Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca Ecuador, con el acompañamiento de la Secretaría Internacional de FiTI. Durante la jornada se analizaron los procesos de generación, validación, gestión y publicación de información pesquera de la DPNG, así como los avances y brechas frente a los requisitos del Estándar FiTI.
Como resultado, el trabajo técnico en territorio permitió avanzar de manera concreta en los aspectos pendientes de Galápagos dentro del proceso FiTI, mediant la definición de una hoja de ruta con responsabilidades, acciones prioritarias y próximos pasos para completar la información requerida y fortalecer su acceso público.
La jornada fue posible gracias al apoyo de WildAid Latinoamérica y Galápagos Life Fund, aliados clave para impulsar este proceso de coordinación y transparencia.

Neste , conheça um dos procedimentos rigorosos e objetivos de garantia da FiTI, concebidos para assegurar a igualdade de tratamento entre todos os países.
Para garantir que todos os países FiTI cumprem a Norma e promovam o diálogo e a aprendizagem a nível nacional, a conformidade com os requisitos da mesma é validada regularmente pelo Conselho Internacional da FiTI.
Os países que pretendam obter o estatuto de País em Conformidade com a FiTI devem, em primeiro lugar, alcançar a elegibilidade para validação, demonstrando a sua adesão aos requisitos de transparência estabelecidos na Norma FiTI. Uma vez considerados elegíveis pelo Conselho Internacional da FiTI, será conduzida uma avaliação de validação independente no país. Após a conclusão bem-sucedida dessa avaliação, o país será declarado em conformidade com a FiTI. Esse estatuto será mantido enquanto o país continuar a cumprir integralmente a Norma FiTI ao longo das revisões de validação subsequentes.
O estatuto de País Implementador da FiTI ou País em Conformidade com a FiTI pode ser perdido se o país não cumprir a Norma FiTI, incluindo a não publicação de informações existentes para os requisitos de transparência, ações insuficientes por parte das autoridades nacionais em relação às recomendações do seu Grupo Multissetorial Nacional, ou quando houver evidências de que a participação multilateral não está a ser alcançada de forma eficaz.
