Women staff of the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) from various departments took part in the International Womenโs Day celebration held in Honiara on 10 March 2026.
The two-day programme began with a parade, followed by the official opening ceremony and a range of activities aimed at promoting awareness, encouraging dialogue, and fostering community engagement in a festive atmosphere.
The 2026 International Womenโs Day celebration was held at the Honiara City Council Multi-Purpose Hall under the global theme: โRights. Justice. Actions. For ALL Women and Girls.โ
According to SINPF Staff Association President Mercy Magu, she congratulated all women of the Fund for their dedication, hard work, and the valuable contributions they continue to make both within the organisation and in their communities.
She said the International Womenโs Day event served as a meaningful reminder of the strength, resilience, and leadership demonstrated by women every day, and highlighted the importance of continuing to recognise and celebrate these contributions.
International Womenโs Day is a global occasion that recognises the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide, including the women and girls of the Solomon Islands.
This yearโs celebration marked an important moment to acknowledge progress, celebrate achievements, and honour the dedication of thoseโpast and presentโwho have championed gender equality and worked to address inequality within communities.
The goal of the celebration is to continue promoting and supporting the rights of women and girls by raising awareness, advocating for equality, supporting accountability, and encouraging collective action and inclusive opportunities where every woman and girl can thrive, lead, and live free from discrimination and violence.
