📢Western Province Qualifies for PCDF with Landmark Achievement in Financial Consolidation 🎉

Western Province has successfully qualified for the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) this year after meeting all minimum conditions, marking a significant milestone in provincial governance and financial management.
A key highlight of this achievement was Western Province’s ability to fulfill Minimum Condition 4, which requires the Business Arm of the Provincial Government to consolidate its financial statement with the Western Provincial Government (WPG). This is a historic first for the country, as Western Province becomes the first public entity in Solomon Islands to carry out such a financial consolidation.
Western Province scored 62 out of 100 in this year’s PCDF assessment, making it the second-highest scoring province, following Isabel Province with a score of 69, which secured the top spot.
Provincial authorities have welcomed the outcome, noting that the achievement reflects improved transparency, accountability, and strengthened institutional systems within the Western Provincial Government.
“This is a proud moment for Western Province. The consolidation demonstrates our commitment to best practices in financial management and sets a benchmark for other provinces to follow,” the Provincial Secretary, Mr Toiraena stated.
The PCDF is a performance-based grant system designed to reward provinces that demonstrate strong governance, sound financial management, and effective service delivery. Western Province’s qualification means more funding opportunities to implement priority development projects, further strengthening service delivery to communities across the province.
The historic consolidation of financial statements by Western Province not only secures much-needed development financing but also places the province at the forefront of financial innovation within Solomon Islands’ provincial governments.
