Saudi's King Salman is scheduled to launch development projects worth $1.3bn (SAR5bn) during his second official visit to Madinah, since his ascension to the throne.
These include projects in the health, education, cultural and, electricity and water services fields, according to Saudi Gazette.
The king will launch a number of new projects in the Islamic University worth $224m (SAR843m), including sport halls, teaching staff housing, new buildings for the deanship for admission and registration, deanship of students affairs, laboratories for applied and scientific faculties, a building for Islamic Research Centre, a building for the faculty of Arabic language, several multi-story car park buildings, the university’s gates and fences, and development operations for the infrastructure.
The education projects, King Salman is expected to launch, are worth $91m (SAR341m), and include 45 new education buildings – 25 of which are education projects for boys at a cost of $46.3m (SAR174m) and 11 are education projects for girls at a cost of $20.5m (SAR77m).
Another three education projects are in Al-Hinakiyah, three in Wadi Al-Far’ governorate, six new education projects in Khaibar and five others in Badr

KSA to invest $5.86bn in Ras Al-Khair shipyard
Saudi Arabia is expected to invest nearly 22 billion riyals ($5.86 billion) in a project to build a shipyard to construct large vessels for its oil industry, a newspaper in the Kingdom reported on Wednesday.
The project in the Eastern Saudi port of Ras Al-Khair will be a joint venture between state oil giant Saudi Aramco, the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, the UAE-based Lamprell and South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries, Arabic daily Aleqtisadiah said, quoting informed sources.
"Phase one will be completed in 2018 while the entire project will be completed in 2021," the paper said.
It quoted the sources as saying that the project would cut Saudi Arabia's ship import bill by around 45 billion riyals ($12 billion) and boost its GDP by $17 billion
