Today we convened a high level event with over 100 stakeholders to discuss the findings of the final assessment report of the implementation of 2021 UPR recommendations by the Republic of Rwanda.

The report was compiled by the Rwanda CSO coalition on UPR, which is chaired by LAF.

We reflect led together on what has been achieved, what still needs to change, and how we — as government, civil society, and development partners — can continue working together to advance the protection and promotion of human rights in Rwanda.

In his remarks, the UN Resident Coordinator commended the strong collaboration between government institutions and CSOs in the UPR process, emphasizing that such partnerships are essential for achieving inclusive dev’t and is a reflection of the interdependence of human rights.

: In partnership with we have convened a workshop on digital media literacy and responsible freedom of expression in Rwanda.
We have an amazing turn out of over 100 representatives from Gov’t, CSOs, journalists, lawyers and development partners.

During the opening session, speakers emphasized that while freedom of expression is a constitutional right, it must be exercised within the limits of the law and with respect for the rights of others.
