WakaWaka stands up against plastic pollution.
While plastic has many valuable uses, such as the shell of our WakaWaka products, we have become over reliant on single-use or disposable plastic – with severe environmental consequences. We believe: if you can't reuse it, refuse it!
At WakaWaka we are also not there yet for a 100% but we try to take action whereever we can to beat plastic pollution. Join our green revolution today!

WakaWaka & Pacari create domino impact
As a social enterprise we use the force of our business to support local initiatives and projects. We do not want to create impact alone. For us, it is more important to ensure that the impact we have is meaningful as well.
One way to do this is by engaging in projects that have the potential for an impact-domino-effect, like our collaboration with Pacari. Pacari are a biodynamic chocolate company from Ecuador with very high standards in social and environmental responsibility. They also makes the worlds best chocolate!
Impact-domino-effect, you ask?
Read all about it on our latest blog! https://waka-waka.com/blog/wakawaka-pacari-create-domino-impact/

How are WakaWakas used in other parts of the world?
Meet Naw Bler Moo (84), an elderly woman who lives in Loikaw, the capital of the Kayah State in Myanmar. She received a WakaWaka Light from Help 4 Forgotten Allies (H4FA), an organization that supports 2nd World War veterans and refugees or their widows in Myanmar.
Next to Loikaw, H4FA distributed WakaWaka Lights in the Mae La refugee camp on the Thai Burma border and in Yangon (formerly Rangoon), in the remote Chin hills. Some of the households in these areas have only one light in one room, and some households have no electricity at all so the WakaWaka Lights are extremely useful.

How are our WakaWakas used in other parts of the world?
When Annet moved in 2013 to Kenya for seven months, her friends gave her a couple of WakaWakas to take. The WakaWakas were of great use because in the village where she lived, the power shut down around three times a week. Soon, her local colleagues were interested in a WakaWaka as well. 25 WakaWakas were ordered and that is how in a healthcare centre in Kenya, the first baby was born in WakaWaka light!

Introducing Joelle!
After one year at WakaWaka it is time for me to handover the management of this social enterprise to Joelle Nzambimana as the new Managing Director of WakaWaka Rwanda. Joelle is highly passionate and wants to light our world with the WakaWaka solar products and "share the sun" with rural Rwanda; to the families living far from the electrical grid, to refugees in camps and displaced people in need. Together with her highly dedicated team she is eager to make the leap and improve peoples lives and well being.
Wishing Joelle all the best and lots of luck in a beautiful country. If you want to meet her in person, just visit WakaWaka Rwanda office in Kigali, Kimihurura. Or catch up with her by email: [email protected]
