We are proud to mark a major milestone as we graduate the first cohort of Digital Champions and Business Coaches, young leaders who have been at the forefront of driving digital and business transformation across communities in Rwanda.

Over the past months, 99 Digital Champions (including youth with disabilities and refugees) have trained and supported 385+ youth across 20 districts, equipping them with practical digital and entrepreneurial skills.

From training on developing Business Plans, Business Model Canvas and social media marketing to hands-on coaching, soft skills among others, their impact is already visible youth are growing businesses, attracting new customers, and accessing new opportunities.

We were honored to have Gilbert Uramutse, SPIU Coordinator at the Ministry of Youth and Arts, as our Guest of Honour.

He commended DOT Rwanda for driving youth empowerment and the strong impact of the , while challenging Digital Champions to stay disciplined, continue mentoring youth, grow businesses, and seize national opportunities.

What stood out most was the program’s strong commitment to inclusion, ensuring that rural youth, young women, youth with disabilities, and refugees are not only reached but empowered to thrive in the digital economy.

As this cohort graduates, their journey continues, with a clear commitment to keep supporting their communities and building sustainable livelihoods.

Business Competition = Dreams in Action 🔥

From showing up to leveling up, this was more than a competition, it was a powerful demonstration of what happens when young people are equipped with the right skills and opportunities.

Goals were set. Skills were activated. Income is in motion.

Through this competition, youth were awarded grants to scale up their necessity-driven businesses, turning resilience into growth.

What stood out most was the intentional focus on inclusion, ensuring that all youth, including those young women and youth disabilities, are not only participating but thriving as entrepreneurs and contributors to the digital economy.

Young. Skilled. Unstoppable.

Together, we are building pathways where every young person has the opportunity to transform their potential into sustainable livelihoods.

The Gera ku Ntego (“Reach the Goal”) Business Competition 2026 is empowering youth entrepreneurs across 20 districts in Rwanda.

Implemented by DOT Rwanda under the Digital Skills for Employability (DSE) Program, this initiative supports young people to transition from necessity-driven micro-enterprises to sustainable, growth-oriented businesses aligned with Rwanda’s digital economy.

Through structured pitch training, mentorship, and a transparent three-stage evaluation process, young entrepreneurs—particularly young women and persons with disabilities—are strengthening their business planning, financial management, and digital capabilities. Selected enterprises receive catalytic seed grants designed to accelerate growth, enhance digital adoption, and support business formalization.

Gera ku Ntego Business Competition demonstrates how skills development, seed capital, and ecosystem partnerships translate into dignified and sustainable livelihoods. By working alongside local leaders, ecosystem actors, and development partners, we are contributing to Rwanda’s broader youth employment and inclusive economic development agenda.

DOT Rwanda officially wrapped up the Digital Skills for Employability (DSE) Program B2B events that were held in five districts; Gatsibo, Nyamagabe, Nyamasheke, Muhanga District, and Musanze districts.

We witnessed an incredible display of innovation, but training alone is not enough. To truly unlock the potential of these young entrepreneurs, we must provide:

🔹 Access to finance

🔹 Strategic partnerships

🔹 Real market opportunities

The rooms were filled with financial institutions, Business development Partners and government leaders ready to take action.

To our partners: The youth have business that are ready to scale. The time to invest is now.

Let's continue to bridge the gap between skills and sustainability.

🔶 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Standing Against Technology-Facilitated GBV

As we join the global community in marking the against Gender-Based Violence, we are reminded of a rapidly growing challenge affecting young women across Rwanda and the world: Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).

With Rwanda’s rising digital adoption, over 12.5 million mobile subscribers and increasing internet connectivity, digital spaces have become central to learning, expression, and opportunity. But for many young women, they are also becoming spaces of harassment, cyberstalking, sextortion, doxing, and non-consensual image sharing.

At DOT Rwanda, through the Digital Skills for Employability (DSE) Program, we believe that true digital transformation must include digital safety.

Because without safety, there is no meaningful participation.

Key reflections shaping our work during the 16 Days of Activism:

🔸 Digital spaces must be safe and empowering.

Young women cannot fully benefit from digital skilling while facing online abuse.

🔸 Positive digital citizenship is essential.

We must challenge harmful online norms and model responsible behaviour.

🔸 Safeguarding must evolve with technology.

Our case management, reporting pathways, and awareness activities must address online risks not only physical ones.

🔸 Prevention is collective.

Ending TFGBV requires educators, youth, partners, and communities to build digital environments rooted in dignity, accountability, and respect.

As we honour the 16 Days of Activism, we recommit to building inclusive, safe, and empowering digital learning spaces where young women can learn, lead, and thrive without fear.

Technology should empower, not endanger.

Let’s stand together to end Technology-Facilitated GBV.
