Dukurikije umuco wa Kiliziya, igihe Intumwa Tomasi Mutagatifu yagarukaga avuye kwamamaza Ivanjili mu Buhinde, yabajije izindi ntumwa ibya Bikira Mariya. Zaramusubije ko yari yaritabye Imana kandi yashyinguwe.

Uyu munsi twizihiza umunsi mukuru wa Mutagatifu Anba Karas Umusitari.

Mutagatifu Anba Karas yakunze Kristo n’umutima we wose. Nubwo yari umwe mu bantu bakize cyane mu gihe cye, yamenye ko iby’isi ari iby’igihe gito kandi bishira. Ni yo mpamvu yasize ubutunzi bwe bwose, yiha Imana burundu. Yamaze imyaka myinshi mu butayu, yihanganira imibabaro myinshi kubera urukundo yakundaga Kristo.

Ku munsi wa nyuma w’ubuzima bwe hano ku isi, Imana yohereje undi mutagatifu witwa Anba Pmwa, kugira ngo yandike amateka meza y’ubuzima bwe. Yayobowe na Roho Mutagatifu kugeza aho Anba Karas yari ari, maze abonye ko mu maso he hari amahoro n’umucyo w’ijuru.

Mu gihe Anba Pmwa yari yicaranye na we, Umwami wacu Yesu Kristo araza aramubonekera. Yesu aramubaza ati: “Mukunzi wanjye Karas, ni iki wifuza?”

Anba Karas aramusubiza ati: “Buri gihe nsenga Zaburi za Dawidi, kandi nifuzaga cyane kubona Dawidi aziririmba acuranga inanga ye.”

Ako kanya, Umwami Dawidi araza atangira kuririmba Zaburi acuranga inanga ye. Muri uwo mwanya wuje icyubahiro, Umwami wacu Yesu Kristo yakira roho ya Mutagatifu Anba Karas, ayinjiza mu mubare w’abatagatifu.

Nuko Umwami Yesu aravuga ati: “Umuntu wese uzibuka izina ryawe ku munsi mukuru wawe, amahoro yanjye azabana na we.”

Nimucyo umugisha n’amasengesho bya Mutagatifu Anba Karas Umusitari bibane natwe twese, kandi bidusendereze ibyishimo n’ibyiringiro byo mu Ijuru. Amen.

Today, we celebrate the feast of Saint Karas the Anchorite.

Saint Karas loved Christ with all his heart. Although he was one of the wealthiest people of his time, he realized that this world is temporary and passing. So, he left behind all his riches and dedicated his entire life to God. He spent many years in the wilderness, enduring hardships out of his love for Christ.

On the last day of his earthly life, God sent another holy saint, Saint Anba Pmwa, to write down his beautiful life story for us. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Saint Anba Pmwa found him and described his face as peaceful and radiant with God’s glory.

While Saint Anba Pmwa was sitting with him, our Lord Jesus Christ appeared. The Lord asked, “My beloved Karas, what is your heart’s desire?”

Saint Karas replied that he always prayed the Psalms of David and longed to see David himself singing them while playing the harp.

Immediately, King David appeared, joyfully chanting the Psalms with his harp. During this heavenly moment, our Lord Jesus Christ received the soul of Saint Karas and welcomed him among the saints.

The Lord Jesus also said, “Whoever remembers your name on your feast day shall have My peace with them.”

May the blessing and prayers of Saint Karas the Anchorite be with us all, and may they fill our hearts with the joy and hope of Heaven. Amen.

Today, our beloved Church celebrates the feast of a remarkable saint. There was once a man whom everyone saw as a chief of thieves, a murderer, and someone far from God. But after he came to know our Lord Jesus Christ, he became Saint Moses the Strong (Abba Moses)—the saint after whom our church in Rwanda is named.

The grace of God transformed his life completely. One day he prayed, “Lord, who are You? Reveal Yourself to me.” God answered his prayer, and he went to the Desert Fathers, where he became a monk. Because he was physically strong, he faithfully served the elderly monks with great humility.

Our Church believes that when the saints depart from this world, their story does not end. They are alive with Christ, they care for us, and by God’s permission they continue to serve and intercede for those of us who are still on our earthly journey until we are all gathered together in His Kingdom. That is why Saint Moses is a powerful intercessor, listening to those who ask for his prayers.

May the blessings of Saint Moses and the transformation God worked in his life inspire and transform your life as well.

Uyu munsi, Kiliziya yacu dukunda irizihiza umunsi mukuru w’umweranda udasanzwe. Kera abantu bose bamubonaga nk’umukuru w’abajura, umwicanyi, ndetse n’umuntu wari kure y’Imana. Ariko amaze kumenya Umwami wacu Yezu Kristu, yahindutse Mutagatifu Musa Umunyambaraga (Abba Moses), ari na we Kiliziya yacu yo mu Rwanda yitiriwe.

Ubuntu bw’Imana bwahinduye ubuzima bwe rwose. Umunsi umwe yarasenze ati: “Mwami, uri nde? Nyiyereke.” Kandi Imana yumvise isengesho rye. Yagiye kubana n’Abasaseridoti bo mu butayu (Desert Fathers), maze aba umumonaki. Kubera ko yari afite imbaraga z’umubiri, yakoreraga abamonaki bakuze n’umutima wicisha bugufi n’urukundo.

Kiliziya yacu yemera ko iyo abatagatifu bavuye muri ubu buzima, inkuru yabo itarangirira aho. Baba bari kumwe na Kristu, batwitaho, kandi Imana ibemerera gukomeza kudusabira no kudufasha twebwe tukiri muri uru rugendo rw’isi kugeza igihe tuzateranira twese mu Bwami bwayo.

Ni yo mpamvu Mutagatifu Musa ari umuvugizi ukomeye, kandi yumva abasaba kubasabira.

Umugisha wa Mutagatifu Musa n’ihinduka Imana yakoreye mu buzima bwe bihindure n’ubuzima bwawe.

“Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?”

“Cyangwa se namusaba ifi, akamuha inzoka?”

Ni kangahe wigeze wumva watsinzwe cyangwa ukumva udashoboye? Ni kangahe wigeze utekereza ko ibyo urota bigoye cyane cyangwa bidashoboka kugeraho? Wigeze wibaza uti: “Ese koko Imana yabinkorera? Ese ni njye jyenyine wumva gutya?”

Twese tugira ibyo byiyumvo. Ariko Imana ni Data wawe. Izi icyakubera cyiza kandi ihora iguteganyiriza ibyiza birenze ibyo ushobora gutekereza. Ibyo ubona nk’ibidashoboka, kuri Yo birashoboka rwose.

Imana ishaka ko uyisaba, ukayigezaho ibyo ukeneye, kugira ngo wishime kandi ubone uburyo yumva amasengesho yawe kandi ikabona buri gikenewe cyose mu buzima bwawe.

Ibi ni byo Umwami yakoze mu Ivanjili y’uyu munsi. Abantu ntibasabye ibyokurya cyangwa ifunguro, ariko yabonye ko nibagenda muri iyo mimerere nyuma yo kumarana na We igihe kinini, bazacika intege kandi bananirwe. Nuko asaba abigishwa kuzana ibyo bari bafite. Nubwo byasaga nk’ibike cyane, byahagije abantu bose kandi biranasaguka. Ibi byabaye kubw’imbaraga z’igitangaza cy’Imana.

Ntuzigere usuzugura igikorwa icyo ari cyo cyose ukora, nubwo cyaba gito cyane. Imana irakibona kandi iragikunda. Icyo ubona nk’aho ari gito mu maso yawe, kuri Yo ni kinini kandi gifite agaciro gakomeye.

“Nuko rero, niba mwebwe ababi muzi guha abana banyu impano nziza, mbega ukuntu So wo mu ijuru azarushaho guha ibyiza abamusaba!”

(Matayo 7:10–11)

How many times have you felt like a failure, or that you simply couldn’t do it? How many times have you thought that what you dream of is too difficult, or even impossible to achieve? Have you ever wondered, “Could God really do that for me? Am I the only one feeling this way?”

The truth is that we all experience these feelings. But God is your Father. He sees what is best for you and always desires something better than you can imagine. What seems impossible to you is completely possible for Him.

He wants you to ask Him, to bring your requests before Him, so that you may rejoice and realize how much He hears you and sees every need you have.

This is exactly what the Lord did in today’s Gospel reading. The people did not ask for food or a meal, yet He saw that if they left and traveled in those conditions after spending so much time with Him, they would become weak and exhausted. So He asked the disciples to bring what they had. Although it seemed very little, it was enough for everyone, and there was even some left over. This happened through His divine miracle.

Never underestimate even the smallest thing you do. God sees it and treasures it. What may seem little in your eyes is precious and abundant in His.

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him!”

(Matthew 7:10–11)
