Today, World Relief Rwanda joins the global community in celebrating International Rural Women’s Day ‎across multiple Districts!

We honor the remarkable achievements of 41,600 women who have been financially empowered through financial literacy, business development, and smart spending initiatives.

‎We also celebrate 32,800 women farmers who have strengthened their food security and market linkages, unlocking new opportunities for income and resilience.

‎In addition, 2,601 women and their spouses have experienced stronger, healthier relationships through couples’ relationship-strengthening initiatives—advancing harmony and shared decision-making at the household level.

‎These milestones reflect World Relief Rwanda’s unwavering commitment to empowering rural women as agents of change, fostering inclusive growth, and building resilient communities across Rwanda in partnership with World Food Programme through the SheCan project and other partners.

Today, World Relief Rwanda (WRR) conducted a Gender Responsiveness Training facilitated by the Gender Monitoring Office (GMO). All our program leaders and departments were equipped with skills in:

• Gender accountability
• Gender statistics
• Gender-responsive planning and budgeting

Following this training, WRR is committed to strengthening our planning and reporting systems by integrating gender-responsive approaches, ensuring that women, men, girls, and boys benefit equitably from our programs.

This learning journey will continue with upcoming sessions by GMO on Gender Audits and Human Trafficking, further building our capacity to promote inclusion, equity, and protection.

Today, we concluded a two-day staff retreat, where all employees came together to reflect on the past fiscal year, celebrate achievements, analyze the challenges encountered & ways to address them, and collectively set strategic approaches for the upcoming fiscal year. The retreat also featured staff recognition awards and moments of prayer and devotion under the theme “Being the Light.”

Today, we handed over to the Church Network Committees of Ruganda, Mutuntu, & Twumba sectors the projects we have implemented over the past 7 years in partnership with churches & local government to bring holistic development to the most vulnerable people in Karongi District.

The programs we implemented include savings initiatives, combating malnutrition and family conflicts, promoting hygiene and sanitation, ensuring holistic child development, and advancing modern agriculture. Churches will continue the implementation & extension of these programs!

We are delighted to see churches taking responsibility for continuing to oversee community development initiatives, sustaining them, and expanding them to areas or people we have not yet reached. In this way, the church becomes a catalyst for positive change in the communities where it serves!
