We are pleased to invite you to apply for WAWP Future Builders Rwanda 2026, a youth leadership and social innovation program for young people who want to create positive change in Rwanda.

Young Leaders Creating Opportunities for Women, Families and Communities

WAWP Future Builders Rwanda 2026 is more than a startup competition. It is an opportunity to develop your leadership and practical skills, explore an innovative idea, and turn it into an initiative that can benefit your community.

You do not need to have an established business or a fully developed project to apply. We welcome young people who have identified a challenge in their community and are motivated to help address it.

Selected participants will have opportunities to:

· Develop leadership and communication skills

· Receive practical training and mentorship

· Strengthen and develop their project ideas

· Connect with other motivated young leaders

· Present their ideas and receive constructive feedback

Who Can Apply?

Young people aged 20–30 may apply individually or as a team of up to three members.

Applicants should have an interest in addressing community challenges and be willing to participate actively throughout the program. Please refer to the attached Program Guide for the complete eligibility requirements.

Program Themes

Applicants should propose an idea related to one of the following themes:

1. Youth Empowerment

2. Women, Families and Community Well-being

Your idea does not need to be perfect. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your commitment to your community, and your motivation to create positive change.

Future Builders Rwanda 2026 is planned and implemented by WAWP Rwanda in partnership with the Women’s Federation for World Peace Japan (WFWP Japan). For more than 30 years, the two organizations have worked together to support education, vocational training, girls’ education, and women’s empowerment in Rwanda.

We believe that every young person has the potential to become a leader who creates hope and opportunities for others.

Members of the WFWP USA delegation kindly provided heartfelt donations.
The items, both practical and warm in spirit, filled the school with joy and gratitude.

They also volunteered to teach English classes.
For many students, it was their first time learning from native English speakers, and they were nervous at first. However, through songs, fun activities, and small treats such as candy, the students gradually relaxed, smiled more, and actively participated in the lessons.

In addition, the delegation visited sponsored students and learned about their daily lives and home environments.
By seeing the situation on the ground and meeting each student in person, they were able to experience things that could not be fully understood through reports alone.

Many shared heartfelt messages, saying that they truly felt the meaning and importance of their support.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all members of the WFWP USA delegation for sharing their time, kindness, and support with us.

At the restaurant, which also serves as a training facility, we proudly hosted our very first dinner service.
With the support of a talented chef who has experience working at hotels, we were able to provide a level of service that exceeded our expectations.

We also opened a shop selling items made by our graduates.
Bags and dresses were especially popular, and we received so many orders that we had to call in extra help due to the high demand.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this opening and to all those who continue to encourage and walk alongside our students.

The New Hope Professional Training Center was established to address the challenges of skill development and difficulty in finding employment, and to train students to become job-ready professionals. It also aims to strengthen women’s empowerment and to create more opportunities for students to gain advanced skills and employment.

Since the completion ceremony, we have received various offers, including requests for apartment and office rentals, retail business proposals, and warehouse leasing. However, as the terms could not be finalized with applicants, the opening of the center was delayed.

This time, with the visit of the WFWP USA delegation, we were finally able to welcome our very first guests to the apartments in the center.

We are deeply grateful to WFWP USA and all those who continue to support our mission and walk this journey with us.

Our school offers three courses:
Dressmaking Course, Hairdressing & Beauty Course, and Culinary Arts Course.

In addition to one year of technical training, students also take part in workplace training at local companies.

When our school first opened, there were many challenges. Tension and trauma caused by ethnic conflict affected relationships between students and teachers.
However, by continuing to create a safe and welcoming learning environment, smiles have gradually returned to our students’ faces, and our school has become a calmer and more stable place to learn.

In the Culinary Arts Course, they practice basic knife skills.
In the Hairdressing & Beauty Course, they learn braiding and hair-washing techniques.

The sparkle in their eyes tells us that learning itself is giving them strength and hope for the future.

The inauguration of the New Hope Professional Training Center will be held.
This center was built as a place where students who have learned skills at our school can receive hands-on training.
We hope that it will be a wonderful center that will be loved by the people of this community.
