Good evening to day on 10th April 2026
Never Again Rwanda, through its Community of alumni, organized a meaningful visit to the Rebero Genocide Memorial Site. The event brought together 126 young people, leaders, and community members to reflect on Rwanda’s history, honor the victims, and reinforce the values of unity, resilience, and reconciliation.
The Visit had a purpose to provide youth with a deeper understanding of the history of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. to create a space for remembrance and reflection, to inspire young people to actively promote peace, unity, and reconciliation.
Participants engaged in moments of remembrance, guided discussions, and youthled reflections. The visit offered an opportunity for learning directly from history, particularly at Rebero, where political leaders who opposed the genocide ideology are laid to rest.
Youth expressed that the experience strengthened their understanding of the past and helped them draw lessons on the importance of standing for truth, justice, and humanity.
H.E. Irene Vida Gala, Ambassador of Brazil to Rwanda, accompanied the youth and shared a message of encouragement. She reminded participants that despite Rwanda’s painful history, the country has rebuilt itself and stands today as a global example of unity and reconciliation. She urged young people to learn from history, choose the positive path demonstrated by the Inkotanyi, and take responsibility for protecting the peace and unity Rwanda enjoys today.
Jean Felix Uriho and Martine Akariza from the coms team were also present in support of the initiative.
The Capacity Building and Social Inclusion Officer from Never Again Rwanda Mr Adjabu emphasized that genocide denial is the final stage of genocide. He raised concern about current trends of denial, citing statements such as those made by Patrick Muyaya, who has publicly minimized the Genocide against the Tutsi.
He encouraged youth to take responsibility in countering such narratives by: Sharing accurate history which they will get by
Visiting memorial sites, reading and seeking knowledge
He stressed that informed youth are better equipped to challenge misinformation and protect the truth.

He concluded by appreciating the Never Again Community for organizing the visit and strengthening solidarity, also highlighted by the inclusion of peers from Umurunga Family and Sherry Silver Foundation.
The visit was a valuable learning experience for the youth. It deepened their understanding of Rwanda’s history and reinforced their role in safeguarding unity and combating genocide denial. The initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of young people to be active agents of peace and reconciliation.

On , we celebrate the unwavering strength, resilience, and unity that have shaped Rwanda’s incredible journey. The peace we cherish today is a living tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of those who paved the way for a brighter future. Every step forward is a tribute to the heroes who fought for peace. Let us continue their legacy by building bridges, not walls.

Today, we mark the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. This year marks 80 years since the end of WWII and the Holocaust, and 30 years since the Genocide in Bosnia.

As we honor these milestone, we are reminded that the remembrance should empower us to fight against hatred, and a call to uphold dignity, human rights and justice for all. Let history guide us toward a better future for all.

Last week, our Rubavu District office had the pleasure of visiting an exhibition showcasing the remarkable efforts of three youth-led initiatives under JADF Rubavu. These included Whiz Upp Ltd, which processes juice from natural fruits, Casa Made, specializing in mixed flour for porridge, and Doxa, a producer of maize flour.

This exhibition was supported by Ecoute Moi Forum, a marketing firm born from Espace Ecoute Moi, a collaborative initiative between NAR Rubavu, OGFA (One Good Family for Africa), and Zion Temple Rubavu Parish. The forum has been instrumental in helping these young entrepreneurs market their products effectively.

All showcased products have received temporary laboratory certifications, a significant step toward earning the S-Mark. This certification will enhance their credibility, widen their market to include export opportunities, and improve customer satisfaction.

During the visit, the leader of Ecoute Moi Forum, shared exciting plans to organize the Badili_Ishe Agriculture Exhibition in July 2025. This event aims to bring together youth involved in agriculture and agro-processing, and he requested our support and guidance in its preparations.

We commend these brilliant initiatives and encourage more youth to engage in such impactful ventures. Together, we can drive innovation and empowerment in our communities.

Never Again Rwanda presents its comprehensive 2022-2024 report documenting patterns of hate speech and violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This detailed analysis examines how inflammatory rhetoric and systematic discrimination have impacted communities, particularly in eastern DRC.

The report provides extensive documentation of specific incidents, analyzes institutional and social factors contributing to hate speech, and offers concrete recommendations for addressing these challenges. It includes verified cases, photographic evidence, and detailed annexes chronicling specific incidents.

We encourage careful review of this documentation as we work toward fostering peace and preventing further escalation of ethnic-based violence in the Great Lakes Region.

Advocacy is the heartbeat of progress. From shaping policy to amplifying community voices, we as an organization demonstrate how persistent efforts drive accountability and fairness in governance. Our Executive Director, Nkurunziza Joseph Ryarasa shares how NAR uses advocacy to fuel change in Rwanda in this article:

The Foundation of Accountability and Progress Advocacy is an essential pillar of any dynamic society. Without it, societies risk falling into complacency, allowing those in positions of power to act without accountability.

Financial freedom is essential to all people, and especially the youth. Yesterday, in Rubavu District, we joined UTC (Urumuri Talent Center) in launching a savings initiative, dubbed the 'IGICERI' program at Mbugangali Market.

This youth-led savings group has grown from 117 to 600 members, holding 2,000+ shares. Starting with as little as 100 RWF, members are building a culture of saving and community resilience.

During the community event, one individual shared a testimony on how saving money helped her to replace her house roof without any financial strain. Such examples, enforce the importance of young people understanding the importance of financial literary and freedom.

By working with youth, we are fostering financial empowerment and prosperity for all youth.
