Ok, we know that we have incredibly high 3 storey staircase which seem really endless when you come with luggage… BUT! Let us tell some history about our building which will pay off all your sufferings and let you feel at home in this historical building!

Firstly our house was build at the end of 17th century. It is famous because of a name of Vasiliy Naryshkin who was cousin of Natalya Naryshkina - Russian queen and mother of Peter the First. See? Now your first step on our staircase must be much easier! Rumor has it that Peter’s tsar-father married off his lovely wife exactly from this building! It was two storeys before and had a big hall on the second floor for noble receptions.

In 18th century the third level was build - where our hostel is situated. As you can see on the old scheme picture the building was designed in beautiful Moscow Baroque style also known as Naryshkin’s Baroque. After death of Vasiliy Naryshkin the house became a school of German pastor who (attention!) was a teacher for Marta Skavronskaya - Peter’s second wife - later queen Ekaterina I! Two Russian tsars already found their wives here - maybe it’s your turn, huh?

Centuries passed and so did the landlords. Here we had a community with a cute name - Imperial Human Loving Society - big charity organization. Unfortunately at that time all the Baroque beauty was taken away. Only in the second part of 20th century the historical windows (seen from the courtyard side) were restored.

Till 1912 a lady’s gymnasium was situated here and much later in Soviet times - komunalki - apartments where several families used to live at once.

And as a conclusion we must say that despite all the rich history and age of our building you will find it nice cozy with MODERN interior ready to serve all the needs of such great travelers as you! Welcome to history and Comrade Hostel!
