Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr and Healer

A monumental hand-painted Byzantine icon, created for an Orthodox church.

Measuring 125 × 60 cm (49.2 × 23.6 in), the icon was painted entirely by hand using traditional techniques and gilded with genuine 24K gold leaf.

From the preparation of the wooden panel and gilding to the final highlights and inscriptions, every stage was completed by hand in my studio.

Saint Brigid of Kildare ☘️

A newly completed hand-painted Byzantine icon of Saint Brigid of Kildare, one of Ireland’s most beloved saints.

Painted in the traditional egg tempera technique on a hand-prepared wooden panel and gilded with genuine gold leaf.

Photographed here in the church, just before beginning its journey to its new home in Ireland. 🇮🇪

The Holy Mandylion — The Image of Christ Not Made by Hands.

Hand-painted in the Byzantine tradition, using egg tempera and genuine gold leaf on a traditionally prepared wooden panel.

There is something profoundly special about seeing an icon in the place for which sacred art has always been created — within the Church, surrounded by prayer, light and the Divine Liturgy.

Every detail was painted slowly by hand, from the face of Christ to the delicate ornamentation of the Holy Cloth.

A work of faith, tradition and many hours at the easel.

While some icons are approaching their final details, six new ones are just beginning their journey.

Gold is already laid, the first drawing and underpainting are taking shape, and slowly, layer by layer, each icon will come to life.

There is something special about seeing so many different stages of the process together on the same table.
