✨ INTERACT Project Presented in Romania during key social work events
In March 2026, the INTERACT project was presented in Romania during 3 important professional events dedicated to social work, bringing together social workers, practitioners, academics, students and representatives of institutions and organizations from across the country.
🔹 On 26 March, the INTERACT team participated in the online event “Living Library in Social Work”, organized by ASproAS – the National Association of Social Workers in Romania, with around 60 social work professionals attending. Ms. Carmen Ciornei, Head of the Social Protection Department within D.A.S.M. Cluj-Napoca, presented the project and its relevance for professional social work practice.
🔹 On 27 March, INTERACT project was presented in Suceava, during the Social Work Days event organized by Ștefan cel Mare University, under the theme “Building Together Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society”. The presentation focused on invisible violence in the context of poverty, with particular attention to women experiencing homelessness. The event gathered around 100 participants.
On 31 March, in the same professional context and under the same overarching theme, the National College of Social Workers in Romania - Cluj Branch, in partnership with the Maramureș and Sălaj branches, organized an intercounty hybrid event attended by approximately 200 professionals. Ms. Carmen Ciornei presented INTERACT principles in working with women experiencing homelessness, highlighting the importance of coordinated intervention, professional collaboration, intersectional understanding, trauma informed care, harm reduction and gender-responsive approaches.
Through these events, the INTERACT project contributed to strengthening professional dialogue around homelessness, gender-based vulnerabilities, domestic violence, poverty, mental health, and substance use.
The discussions reaffirmed the importance of integrated services, interinstitutional cooperation, professional solidarity, and gender-responsive approaches in developing effective responses for women experiencing homelessness or precarious housing.
🙏 Our sincere thanks to all participants, organizers and partners for their valuable contributions and engagement!

✨ INTERACT Training Programme - Successfully Concluded!
The INTERACT Training Programme has officially come to a close with two inspiring Transnational Training Sessions held by the Italian team in December 2025, bringing together participants from all six partner countries of the project (Greece, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Romania).
These final sessions provided a valuable space for exchange, where participants shared experiences and feedback from the local trainings carried out in each partner country. Working together at a transnational level, they contributed to building a shared understanding and common ground, strengthening collaboration across borders.
A key highlight of the programme was the in-depth exploration of inclusive and accessible language, expertly facilitated by Equilatere Association.
🙏We warmly thank Chiara Giorgio and Beatrice Bragato for guiding participants through this essential topic with insight, professionalism, and clarity.
👏 We sincerely thank all participants and project partners for their active involvement, openness, and dedication.

✨ INTERACT Project Partners’ In-Person Meeting, Lisbon, 10–11 December 2025
The INTERACT project partners participated in an in-person meeting in Lisbon, held within the framework of the EU-funded "Intersectional Approach to Combating Homelessness for Women" project.
The meeting aimed to strengthen partners’ capacities to effectively implement the INTERACT Pilot Intervention Model for supporting homeless women with multiple vulnerabilities, ensuring alignment with gender-sensitive, trauma-informed, and rights-based standards.
During the first day, the partners focused on strengthening a shared understanding of the INTERACT Pilot Intervention Model, gender-sensitive approaches to homelessness, including harm reduction and Housing First with a gender lens, as well as trauma-informed care, while identifying areas where interpretations and practices diverge.
The second day was dedicated to emphasizing the importance of enhancing inter-agency collaboration, meaningful participation, monitoring and gender-sensitive data, and to co-designing a shared strategy to improve the model’s usability and future alignment.
The meeting ended with a study visit at the Municipal Emergency Accomodation Centre in Lisbon, which is managed by Associação Ares do Pinhal and Vitae and financed by the City of Lisbon.
🤝 This working visit provided a valuable space to strengthen our partnership, exchange expertise, and co-develop solutions that support inclusive, coordinated, and effective responses to women’s homelessness across diverse contexts.
We look forward to translating these shared insights into stronger practice and tangible impact across frontline services!
🙏Our sincere thanks to our Portuguese partners for the organization of this great working visit!

🟠 25 November - The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Today, we come together to speak out against all forms of violence directed at women and girls. Gender-based violence continues to be one of the most widespread violations of human rights, impacting millions, particularly those in vulnerable or unstable circumstances.
🔶 INTERACT Project
The Intersectional Approach to Combating Homelessness for Women (INTERACT) project, funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), supports women experiencing homelessness or living in precarious conditions, many of whom are survivors of gender-based or intimate partner violence.
An intersectional intervention model addressing women’s homelessness, substance use, gender-based violence including intimate partner violence, and mental health through trauma-informed, harm reduction and gender-responsive approaches will be created and piloted within the project in six European countries.
On this important day, we renew our shared commitment to creating safer, more inclusive societies, where women can live free from violence, supported with dignity, protection, and hope.
