Meet the Speaker! 🔈

Dr. Ion-Andrei Popescu, MHBA is a fellowship trained upper limb surgeon, subspecialized in advanced shoulder surgery, tendon transfers, reconstructive shoulder arthroscopy and brachial plexus surgery. His practice in Bucharest is devoted entirely to the treatment of problems affecting the shoulder region.
Dr. Popescu is a MD graduate of the ‘Carol Davila’ University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania and MHBA (Master of Health Business Administration) of the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He conducted his residency-training in trauma and orthopedic surgery in Germany in high volume trauma centers, for 6 years. He specialized also in sports medicine and orthotics. He was awarded by the German Orthopedic Academy and became a fellow of the largest society for arthroscopy, the German Speaking Association for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA).
As AGA-fellow he performed multiple fellowships and trainings in shoulder and upper limb surgery in France and Europe for another 3 years. He was a fellow of the famous Alps Surgery Institute in Annecy and was trained by Dr. Laurent Lafosse and Dr. Thibault Lafosse in advanced shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty. He rounded up his arthroscopic shoulder surgery routine working with Dr. Jens Agneskirchner in Hannover. He completed his training in reconstructive upper limb surgery and brachial plexus surgery as a junior surgeon in the International Center for Hand and Shoulder Surgery in Paris, as fellow of Dr. Frederic Teboul and Jean-Noel Goubier. Eventually he became fellow of the ESSKA – ESA (European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy – European Shoulder Associates). Since 2023 he is the General Secretary of the Romanian Society for Arthroscopy and Sportstrauma (SRATS).
Dr. Popescu authors multiple research articles and book chapters about shoulder disorders and their treatments. Moreover, he is arthroscopy instructor for cadaver courses and invited to scientific events related to shoulder surgery organized all over the world. He is board certified in Germany, France and Romania and since January 2020 moved his main practice in Bucharest, Romania.

Meet the Speakers! 🔈

Mihai Hurmuz, M.D., is an Orthopaedic surgeon 👨‍⚕️ at the Clinical Emergency Military Hospital from Timișoara and an Assistant Teaching Professor at the 3rd Orthopaedic Discipline from “Victor Babeș” Medicine and Pharmacy from Timisoara.

He is passionate about sports medicine, reconstructive surgery and is interested in knee, shoulder and ankle surgery. Over the years has attended many hands-on courses around Europe and has benefited from several Fellowships. The two AO Fellowships in Austria under the supervision of Prof. Bendetto, former ESSKA president, and Lisbon allowed him to gain experience and meet experienced surgeons. The last experience was a ESSKA-AGA Travelling Fellowship on Joint Preservation for 2 weeks that offered the opportunity to interact with great surgeons, attend impressive surgeries, and discuss state-of-the-art treatments for different knee and shoulder pathologies.

Dr. Horia Hărăguș is a surgeon 👨‍⚕️ specializing in orthopaedics who works at a regional trauma center at the Emergency Clinical County Hospital ‘Pius Brînzeu’ in Timișoara, which is the primary healthcare provider for the western part of Romania.

His department provides care for over half a million residents by performing various surgical procedures. In addition to his clinical practice, he is an assistant professor of orthopaedics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy ‘Victor Babeș’ in Timișoara. Dr. Horia Hărăguș's research interests are primarily in sports medicine, with a focus on shoulder surgery. He has been a regional faculty member in the AAOS-Romania Shoulder Program since 2015.

: On March 14, for the first time in Romania, the revolutionary Comprehensive System by Zimmer Biomet 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐨𝐟-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐲 will be brought from abroad! Dr. Guido Marra from Chicago-Northwestern, who designed this system, will oversee the procedure! 👨‍⚕️

Dr. Cosmin Faur has a particular interest in treating shoulder pathologies and believes they deserve more attention in our country. To improve his skills in this area, he has attended several specialization courses both in Romania and abroad, including the Superspecialization Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, and the AAOS training program at Northwestern Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Cosmin Faur attends refresher courses every year, both in Romania and abroad, to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in orthopaedic pathology worldwide. 👨‍⚕️🌎
