THE NETWORK MEETS IN THE SUMMER
The Network moves to a new venue every year, providing fresh views and challenges in practical, spatial, design, and theory. The organising process is run by individual volunteers, who make the core of the assembly by combining the location and theme, finding partners and sponsors.
The Network and its events always happen at a certain location for a specific reason. This can arise from the desire to socialise, create, learn, change, draw attention to problems, initiative etc.. The success of the assembly depends on everyoneâs personal involvement, i.e. âthe more you put in it, the more you get out of itâ. For two weeks the EASA community becomes self-sufficient. It brings a unique creative spirit among the participants, also known as the EASA Spirit which is difficult to describe but easy to feel.
EASA 1:1 will gather 300 participants for a two-week summer school, in Calarasi, Romania. It will take place from the 30th of July to the 12th of August, and will host 15 workshops.

During EASA, students and professionals form a community which maintains itself â all work, study, rest, cook, eat, clean and live together. Workshops fill the majority of time, making the two week program packed alongside lectures conducted by professionals from divergent spheres of activity, always strongly relating to the theme of each event. Excursions, exhibitions, open discussions, intuitive one-day workshops and spontaneous performances take place, among other activities. EASA is a non-profit, decentralised structure, organised and led by volunteers.
Often participants reassess the responsibility of architecture, engagement in education, possibilities for experimentation, quality of openness, inclusivity and sustainability within the educational systems and professional industry.

WHAT IS EASA?
EASA [European Architecture Students Assembly] is currently the biggest architecture studentsâ network spreading all across Europe. It is a cultural platform for architecture students and professionals that aims to provide free exchange of thoughts, ideas, methods and new architectural practices.
First and foremost, EASA is an educational movement. It gives a chance to experience architectural education and architecture in a way that universities are not yet providing, as it gathers students each summer in a context defined by a theme. Based on them, for two weeks participants raise architectural questions and investigate them through practical and theoretical workshops, while being aware of their own positioning. This creates the context for non-institutionalized forms of teaching, learning and exchange.
