Three courtyards — front, back, lateral. Not decoration, but extensions of daily life for a family of four. The rooftop terrace on the second floor adds a mineral courtyard above — open sky, a different kind of outdoor space.

The project worked with cardinal orientation to make the courtyards visible from almost every side of the ground floor. Light and vegetation enter from multiple directions. Construction started during the pandemic and proceeded in stages. Plants and trees are still in progress.

A house in a quiet neighborhood, north of Bucharest, in a protected historic area. The plot is narrow, the typology prescribed — house with gardens. The new building fits into this logic.

Towards the street: a garden, a fence, a corner entrance. Textured plaster, specific to the buildings of the area.

The Corten was already there — on the signage outside. Bringing it inside was the natural move. Heavy plates, around 142 kg each. The curved section couldn't be rolled in one piece — it was built from bent segments. A solution that doesn't show, but defines the character of the space.

A corner space, visible day and night through the glazed façade. The park is always present — in the green of the walls, in the light that enters from multiple directions, in the way the space opens toward the outside rather than closing in on itself. The ceiling and linear lights were recovered from previous fit-outs of the building — a small gesture, in the spirit of the certification the building carries.

A sales office at the edge of a protected natural park. The building dates from 2005 and is one of Bucharest's most recognized offices — LEED Gold certified, set in a dynamic business district. The brief was simple and demanding at the same time: make the smallest space in the building feel like it belongs to the same standard as everything around it.

38,60 sqm at ground level, on a corner, visible through the glazed façade day and night. The park is right there — a few meters from the glass. That proximity became the starting point.

Romania submitted in December 2025 its first National Building Renovation Plan to the EU. Renovation and sustainability are becoming a national priority.
Cabinet is present in that conversation — founder architect Oana Iacob represents OAR Romania in the .archi.eu Sustainability Working Group, since June 2026.

Seeing our slender stand among the paper shingles of the Romanian Pavilion at UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona reminded us how alive it was when it first appeared at ArchyFest 2023.

"Ask the Architect" was the first real test — would people come in, stop, ask? They did.
