This document, prepared with support from Eurochild and Learning for Wellbeing Foundation, is the result of several months of commitment and collaboration among Council members, both in person and online & consultation with 200 children.

The EU Gender Equality Index 2025 shows how far we still have to go — women working 15½ months to earn what men make in one year, and full equality still 50 years away.

🚨 Just out: The EU Gender Equality Index 2025 reveals women still need to work 15½ months to earn what men make in a year!
This year’s Index score: 63.4/100. The gap is real, but so is the momentum for change - a 10.5 increase since 2010.

But despite progress:
🔹 Full gender equality is still 50 years away.
🔹 Women earn just 77% of men’s annual pay
🔹 Big wins in economic decision-making, but setbacks in health & education
🔹 31% of women have faced violence—urgent action is needed

At Efficient Parenting II, we celebrate this week by spotlighting our learning module “Women’s Empowerment in Challenging Environments.” 💪

This module strengthens the role of mothers, guardians, and female carers — giving them tools to lead, inspire, and nurture resilience even in the most difficult contexts. Empowered women create empowered families and stronger communities.

The week is dedicated to women’s rights, putting talent at the forefront, ensuring that women have equal and unobstructed access to the same opportunities as men to see their talents realised.

We are on the right path to closing this gap with new legally binding measures which include tackling unequal pay, fighting discrimination, boosting gender balance on corporate boards and combatting violence against women.

Progress? Yes. Done? No.

In advancing girls' and women's rights, we have to applaud achievements so far but also identify new measures as we go along.

This week isn’t just about awareness; it’s about driving change.

Stronger social and emotional skills are linked to better education outcomes.

This is one finding from new analysis of the latest Survey of Adult Skills, which is out now.

The survey looks at how different skills relate to certain life outcomes, like academic and career achievement.

The data show that traits like openness to experience and emotional stability aren’t just good life skills, they are also linked to higher educational attainment.

Beyond education, these traits are also linked to better literacy, numeracy and adaptive problem-solving skills.
