Innovation in action at the DREAM Project event!
On April 2nd, we had the pleasure of joining our partners from the DREAM Project in an exciting event in Ruse for a truly exciting event showcasing innovative environmental solutions!
The event kicked off with insights from the Lead Partner, University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”, who guided us through the project’s key achievements so far. From the completed design of the integrated monitoring system to the acquisition of essential components, including the water-quality monitoring station, UAV subsystems, and the vessel’s electric propulsion and renewable energy systems - the progress is truly impressive.
🚤 One of the most interesting moments was discovering the monitoring vessel itself: how it was built, how the systems were integrated, and how it will operate within the broader environmental monitoring process.
🚁 Another highlight came from the National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI, who introduced the DREYE UAV drones. These smart drones can monitor air pollution, noise levels, and other environmental indicators — both day and night, thanks to their night-vision capabilities. Seeing them displayed at the university made the experience even more real (and exciting!)
🌊 The day continued at the Ruse riverfront, where we witnessed the official launch of the monitoring vessel, a key milestone for the project and a major step toward real-time environmental data collection. Seeing it up close was a truly special moment and we can’t wait to watch it in action during the testing phase!
💡 Overall, the event highlighted how innovative technologies can support faster responses to pollution, smarter decision-making, and stronger cross-border cooperation.
🚀 We are very excited to follow the next steps of the DREAM Project and see these solutions fully operational!

DREAM Project – A new milestone for environmental monitoring on the Danube
The Danube River Environmental Assessment and Monitoring (DREAM) Project continues to advance, bringing innovative solutions for monitoring environmental conditions along the Danube River in the Ruse/Giurgiu – Silistra/Călărași region.
Implemented under the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme, the project aims to identify and address environmental challenges such as air and water pollution, noise levels, and other environmental factors using advanced technologies, including UAV systems and a solar-powered monitoring vessel.
The project is implemented by a cross-border partnership composed of University of Ruse Angel Kanchev (Lead Partner), National Research and Development Institute for Gas Turbines COMOTI, and National Institute for Research and Development in Electrical Engineering ICPE-CA.
Significant progress has already been achieved, including the successful testing of the DREYE UAV drone, the completion of the Environmental Factors Monitoring System design, and the procurement and delivery of key system components such as the water-quality monitoring station, UAV subsystems, and the electric propulsion and renewable energy systems for the monitoring vessel.
🚢 A major milestone has now been reached with the launch of the monitoring vessel. The vessel will soon be delivered, where the final system settings will be completed before entering the testing phase. The first navigation will mark the beginning of real-world monitoring operations and the next step in implementing the project’s integrated environmental monitoring system.
A public event is also being prepared to present the system and officially announce the start of the testing period.
📢 We will come back soon with updates from the vessel testing event and the first navigation activities, so stay tuned and continue following the project to see how this innovative monitoring system comes to life on the Danube.
📢 Follow the project’s pages (and of course, ours ) to stay updated on the next steps:
