Quiet Bonds. Stories from an Auditor
📍Deloitte Romania (The Mark Tower - Calea Griviței 82-98, 14th floor, Bucharest)
How do two seemingly opposite worlds meet, the one governed by strict numbers and the one of the free canvas? We are thrilled to invite you tonight to the opening of the first art exhibition hosted by Deloitte Romania, in collaboration with Sandwich Gallery.
“There are two kinds of time. One is measured in deadlines, billable hours, and deliverables. The other passes differently — through a Sunday afternoon, through the particular quiet of someone asleep, through the moment just before understanding something. Quiet Bonds. Stories from an Auditor brings together paintings made over three years of sustained, parallel attention. Two series, two registers of daily life — one private, one professional — observed with the same unhurried eye.” - extract from the exhibition text.
In her dual role as an artist and a Deloitte auditor, Corina Dimitriu uses the same patience and seriousness to look at both the privacy of the home and the dynamics of the office, free of irony or critique, but filled with deep, sustained attention.
Join us at the opening to explore these two registers of daily life together!

DANIEL SPOERRI
La Pharmacie Bretonne
mixed media – wooden box composed of 3 parts, each side of the box made of three wooden doors that close, with 117 labeled, numbered bottles filled with spring water, 107X78X7.5 cm, undated
Daniel Spoerri constructs an ensemble reminiscent of a pharmaceutical cabinet, rigorously organized yet mysterious. The 117 bottles, labeled and filled with spring water, suggest a classification system, but their seemingly identical contents call this order into question. The wood of the structure offers stability and tradition, while the repetition of the bottles creates an almost hypnotic rhythm.
Each container seems to promise a difference, but the viewer discovers a uniformity that transforms expectation into reflection.
The work evokes a subtle form of alchemy: not the visible transformation of matter, but the change in meaning through context. Instead of a spectacular transmutation, Spoerri proposes a conceptual mutation, in which the act of collecting, ordering, and preserving becomes itself a transformative act.
Known for his “tableaux-pièges,” in which remnants of everyday life are fixed and transformed into permanent compositions, Spoerri operates here in a similar but more austere register, using the purified matter of spring water, with universal healing potential.
Daniel Spoerri (b. 1930, Galați) is a Swiss artist of Romanian origin, associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement and close to the experimental spirit of the Fluxus group. Initially trained as a dancer, he began his artistic career in the field of performance, later focusing on the object and its potential to capture traces of reality. His practice extends to installation, assemblage, and text, as he explores themes such as memory, consumption, time, and the transformation of objects.

💦 Performance alert 💦
Part of the ALL THE DIAMONDS exhibition, Alina Ușurelu who works as a visual artist and performer will activate her installation in a durational performance happening tomorrow between 1-5 pm.
“Gathering for Weather Sensitive Beings” was created as a recollection of her 35 years of life spent with her family, blending her memories with the act of washing clothes in the river, an activity traditionally attributed to women in a community. Collated upon a personal history of the artist’s own body, in which she evokes (through a set of instructions that are given a new meaning) the process of washing her father’s way too many shirts, the negotiation which she manages to undergo with her roots turns the act of washing into a performative gesture.
The installation redefines without repressing a series of actions stuck in a world of tradition, inviting the audience to participate in the group work - a safe space-time, rid of gender predominance, where one can sit and recount. Water becomes the connection and the pretext for a spontaneous gathering, which works to complete the artist’s liberation.
We invite you to join her process tomorrow and also to activate the work yourselves!

Alina Ușurelu (b. 1990) is an interdisciplinary artist-researcher and PhD candidate in Visual Arts at West University of Timișoara. She works in photography, video, sound, installation, and performance. Her projects address sexuality, identity, mental health, community-making, care, and kinship with the more-than-human world. She uses playful, transdisciplinary methodologies to create spaces for collective experimentation. Her work fosters more attentive ways of being in an interconnected yet fractured present, where relationships between people and the environment are both strong and challenged.

HORTENSIA MI KAFCHIN
“Foot Through Space”
oil on canvas, 29.5 x 21 cm, 2022
This composition, executed in oil on a wooden panel, offers a visual journey to the intersection of the metaphysics of femininity and advanced concepts of theoretical physics, exploring the dynamics of folded space and subjective temporality. The central element, a geometric form of dense black, punctuated by luminescent inserts evoking a stellar field, functions as a non-Euclidean portal that fragments and, at the same time, reconfigures bodily presence. Through this “fold” in the fabric of reality, the female silhouette is not rendered as a passive object, but as an active agent of transition, capable of oscillating between dimensions and existential states.
Hortensia Mi Kafchin is known for her complex, surrealist figurative paintings. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Art and Design in Cluj, where she specialized in ceramics, glass, and metal. Working with a wide range of media, from drawing and painting to sculpture and installation, Kafchin immerses the viewer in dystopian and sensual scenarios, underpinned by mythological and historical themes, which invite us to question our interpretations of the past and the present. She has had solo and group exhibitions at major institutions such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, Romania; the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria; the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton in Paris, France; the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France; the New Museum in New York, United States; the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, Poland; the MuMoK Museum of Modern Art in Vienna, Austria; and the Kunsthalle Budapest in Budapest, Hungary. She participated in the 2013 Prague Biennale, Czech Republic, and the 2012 Paris Triennale, France, and her work is part of renowned private and public collections, such as the Telekom Centre Art Collection, Germany; and the Georges-Pompidou National Center for Art and Culture in Paris, France.
