In this demanding mountainous corridor—where engineering meets the raw force of the Carpathian Mountains—Terratest Romania has delivered essential special foundation works that quite literally anchor the future of connectivity.

Our contribution:

216 piles Ø1200 mm with a total drilled length of 3,803 m

100 piles Ø1500 mm with a total drilled length of 1,900 m

Beneath every visible structure lies an invisible effort. Meter by meter, pile by pile, the groundwork is being set for something that will endure.

Today, April 28, marks the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a global initiative led by the United Nations to promote the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases.

In 2026, the focus goes beyond physical risks and highlights the importance of psychosocial working environments—how workload, communication, and workplace culture directly impact safety and well-being.

For those of us active in construction and engineering, this is a strong reminder that safety is not only about procedures and equipment. It is also about how teams collaborate, how pressure is managed, and how people feel on site.

Every safe project starts with a culture where prevention, awareness, and responsibility are part of daily operations.

Let’s continue building environments where everyone goes home safe—physically and mentally.

Work in progress in the Port of Galați, Romania.

Terratest Geotehnic is currently on site, carrying out special foundation works in a demanding environment where ground conditions and the proximity to the Danube River require precise ex*****on and careful planning.

It’s the kind of project where experience in geotechnical solutions really makes a difference — from the first stages of ex*****on to ongoing quality control.

Good progress so far, thanks to the team’s involvement and coordination on site. More updates soon as the works advance.

Near the Children’s Hospital in Galați, a 160-space underground parking facility is being developed to support the needs of this busy area of the city. Above the structure, a modern park will be created, including trees, shrubs, and green lawn areas, offering a new place for relaxation for the local community.

As part of the foundation works, Terratest Romania executed 41 diaphragm wall panels forming the perimeter enclosure of the excavation. The diaphragm walls have a thickness of 60 cm and reach a depth of 20.7 m, enclosing a total perimeter of 217 m.

This project illustrates how engineering solutions can support both urban mobility and the creation of new green public spaces.

VIFOR Wind Farm | Foundations for 461 MW of Clean Energy
Once operational, VIFOR will stand among the largest onshore wind farms in Europe. Located near Buzău city, Romania. The project integrates 72 next-generation wind turbines with a total installed capacity exceeding 461 MW.
Wind energy begins with structural certainty.
Performance above ground depends entirely on precision below it.
Delivering this project required coordination across disciplines—geotechnical engineering, structural design, heavy civil ex*****on—and a shared commitment to precision, safety, and durability.
461 MW rising from engineered foundations.
Strength below. Energy above.

The video below captures part of the process: scale, complexity, and the silent strength beneath each tower.
