The Balkan History Association was represented by its president, Mihai Dragnea at the 8th edition of "Colloquia Ceranea", an annual conference on Byzantine and Slavic studies, which was organized by the Waldemar Ceran Research Centre for the History and Culture of the Mediterranean Area and South-East Europe (Ceraneum) at the University of Łódź, Poland (7-9 May 2026). The Balkan History Association welcomes Mateusz Kamionka as a new associate member!
Mateusz Kamionka is a political scientist, Doctor of Social Sciences in the discipline of political science and public administration, and an assistant professor at the Department of Polish-Ukrainian Studies at Jagiellonian University. He specializes in Polish-Ukrainian relations, the politics of memory in Poland and Ukraine, as well as the analysis of political awareness and identity among academic youth in Ukraine. He completed studies in political science, management, and international relations in Kraków, and obtained his doctoral degree in 2020 based on research on transformations in the socio-political consciousness of Ukrainian students after 1991. He gained academic experience as an assistant professor at the Pedagogical University of Kraków and as the head of the Pedagogy program at the Józef Gołuchowski Academy of Applied Sciences, as well as at universities in Ukraine – Sumy State University and Kyiv University of Trade and Economics. He has been a visiting professor, among others, in the United States (University of Illinois Chicago) and at Ukrainian universities, as well as a participant in numerous Erasmus+ mobility programs in Europe and the USA. He is a member of international academic associations, scientific journals, and an active participant in academic conferences.

The Balkan History Association welcomes Marcela Hennlichová as a new associate member!
Marcela Hennlichová, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of International and Diplomatic Studies at Prague University of Economics and Business, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences. As a historian with background in International Relations, she focuses on history of international relations and diplomacy (especially French history and presidential diplomacy), and energy crises and energy-saving measures from a historical and comparative perspective. In these areas, she has recently published (as author and co-author) a book chapter, several peer-reviewed articles (e.g. "Energy Research and Social Science", "The International History Review", "Archiv Orientalni Quarterly", "French Colonial History"). She is a member of the Society for the Study of French History) and of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and its Standing Group on Presidential Politics and its Research Network on Energy Politics, Policy and Governance. She was a visiting scholar at the universities of Bayreuth (2021), Ljubljana (2024), Warsaw (2024), and Bologna (2025). She currently co-chairs the grant awarded by the Czech Grant Agency (GAČR), entitled "Kohlennot" (PI prof. Stanislav Holubec, Czech Academy of Sciences) that focuses on Coal Crisis in Central Powers and Beyond (1914–1920). In this project, Holubec, Hennlichová and their team investigate the impact of energy crisis during World War I.
