I spotted this Angel’s Trumpet tree growing in Avalon. They usually come in white, but this beauty was the most beautiful apricot colour.

The sun was shining on the trumpet like flowers, so they looked like lamps. In the 50s they had lamps, that looked like the flowers, on this tree.

It’s always an awkward moment when you get out of your car and approach a house. This lady saw me coming, and she met me half way.

Hi i said, I’d love to take a photo of your Angel’s Trumpet Tree.
“That’s fine” she said, “it’s looking fabulous”. She was very friendly.

I quickly realised that she wanted to be in the photo too. I smiled.
I love how people become famous for their tree. They love their tree.
It’s like one of their children.

Brugmansia are tropical trees, like Frangipanis, so they always perform best if you live close to the coast, but if you find a warm protected spot, they will grow in the burbs.

Every part of this tree is poisonous.
So wash your hands after touching the leaves or flowers.

We have a few Brugmansia in the nursery. We have Frangipanis too.
