Sharing images of what I find beautiful

A game of light and shadow.. I was very fortunate to catch this mountain being bathed in light immediately after a frozen rain storm, near Tre Cime. Thick clouds hid all the other peaks, but a break between them allowed a ray of sun to hit directly over the most colored part of the central peak. Just another unique attraction which I am very grateful to have witnessed.

Passo Giau remains one of the most beautiful places I ever witnessed a sunrise in. Just a day’s difference between green grass and snow. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of these beautiful mountains. The biggest cost to pay is the searing cold waiting to get a good shot :D But i think it’s worth it!

The Funes village in the Dolomites offers an incredible view of a picturesque tranquil mountain village with its beautiful St Magdalena church set agains the background of the Odle peaks.
Just a short hike up a hill and we were setting up to take a beautiful shot of the Val di Funes area. Just one problem, beautiful as it may have been, there was no light to make the view truly unique and spectacular. Clouds were covering up the sky.
With a composition perfectly set up, we must have waited for an hour before deciding nothing magical was going to happen. We started packing up the gear, tripods, filters, camera and everything else and began heading back down, on the road that would take us through the church yard with a bit of dissapointment in out hearts.
And just then, in an instant, a miracle happened and the clouds parted just enough for a warm beam of light to enter the valley and to shine bright, giving us extaly what we asked for.
With seconds until the clouds would close their curtains again, we ran back up to the original position and scurried to get all the gear ready and to reframe the shot.
It was a close call and we could have easily missed this rare view of the valley.
Stay till the end, don’t give up, you never know what could happen in the last second of light.

A beautiful play of light and shadow atop the Monte Cristallo cable car station. There’s a secondary cable station going up to the cabin on top, but it has been out of order for a few years now, the only way to get up there is by foot. Not a bad background, though. Clouds, mist, some trekkers on the path, all good elements for a lovely shot.

I returned to “Stana lui Burnei” where the one day hike to ‘s highest peak, , starts, with a better composition in mind than 3 years ago and better gear, hoping to get a more pleasant shot of the valley.
It involved driving for 9 hours, 4 of which through a rough country road in the forest, now packed with tourists and hikers, hoping I would get some clouds and a more dimmed light, but forgot that in the morning, the sun relative to my composition is coming from behind me.
So I am not trully happy with the final result, but I now know the setup for next spring.
After the first shot, I also added some crops, and if you have a good eye, you can spor some snakes in rhe last one :)

The “Vânătările Ponorului” waterfall near .eu in Alba county was one spectacular site to see. With it’s 70m waterdrop along the rock wall, it is humbling as well as loud. Most amazing thing.. I had the place all to myself, as it is not immediately on a tourist path. Notice the lovely “bathtub” 1 third down the fall.. I think it is accesible via some ropes?

Little analogous colored houses. I was always curious to see how they look inside, this architecture is typical for Transylvania and still holds many secrets from me.

We were chasing a snowstorm that was supposed to hit on sunday and which never hit, and I knew about this little cabin near close to the hiking route to cabin, se we decided to check it out, see if there was any snowing happening between the mountains. About 7km out, the snowstorm finally hit us so I knew I would get a nice wintery shot of the cabin, with probably 0 people around, a prediction that actually came true.

Too bad I don’t own a larger tele, but this mix of sun, fog, snow and no-snow on the hills is a rare sight to me, figured I should do my best with the gear I have.
This is a (partial) view of the mountains, preparing for winter.

Wanted to scout the village of Sirnea for a while now and I finally found some time to do that, in the winter, which actually worked in my favour, as the entire village was sprinkled with this white powder.
I found this little village as quiet as I saw it in the summertime, and I do hope I’ll get a chance to stay for a few days next summer.

You can get an amazing view of the Bucegi mountains from the highest vantage point near , with lovely patches of trees and scattered cottages. One day it could be foggy, and the next day the skies could open up and the sun would just flood the valleys, such as the day I took this shot.
