Today, we marked our 11th anniversary with a ceremony at our HQ in Bucharest, recognizing the hard work of the personnel that makes our mission possible every day.
We extend our appreciation to all our partners for standing alongside us on the Eastern Flank.
Together, we keep NATO ready, fast, and united.

🕯️ 25 years ago, the world changed in minutes.

On 11 September 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were taken in terrorist attacks against the United States.

Within 24 hours, NATO Allies invoked Article 5 for the first time in our history. An attack on one is an attack on all.

Today, NFIU Romania remembers the victims, their loved ones, the first responders, and all those who served, including the thousands who made the ultimate sacrifice in the years that followed.

We remember.
We stand together.

On 24 August, NFIU Romania hosted a delegation from the Embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The dialogue revolved around the NFIUs operational roles within NATO and the Host Nations, cross-flank synergies, and actionable collaboration opportunities.

From Saint Stephen’s legacy to today’s Allied commitment, Hungary’s story is one of endurance, identity, and service.
On State Foundation Day, we salute our Hungarian Allies and their continued contribution to NATO’s collective defence on the Eastern Flank.

As France celebrates Le 14 Juillet, we honor our shared commitment to peace. At Cincu, the French-led Battle Group stands as a powerful testament to Allied solidarity and vigilance on the Eastern Flank.
Joyeuse Fête Nationale!

The in Ankara concluded with a clear message: NATO delivers. Defence investment is rising, new capabilities are being delivered, defence industrial production is expanding, and European Allies and Canada are assuming greater responsibility for their security.

Major new procurements were announced at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum, which will boost defence production and innovation across the Alliance, and provide new capabilities to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence.

Allies also reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine pledging billions of euros in military aid.

The U.S. Army awarded the Achievement Medal to three NFIU Romania service members in recognition of their contributions to the mission and the Alliance’s readiness.
OF-4 Michael, OF-1 Lorena Roșu, and OR-6 Leonard Ilie were recognized during today’s ceremony for their outstanding expertise, professionalism, and commitment.
