Faceți cunoștință cu Private Snare – noul recrut din regimentul ritmurilor! Această piesă pornește la pas hotărât prin lumea regulamentelor, trilurilor și loviturilor precise, combinând disciplina militară cu un strop de umor și rebeliune. Între accentele clare și micile „gafe” intenționate, toboșarul devine un soldat începător care învață arta controlului, dar și plăcerea de a ieși uneori din formație. Plină de energie, spirit și atitudine, Private Snare îi provoacă pe tinerii percuționiști să se distreze, să fie expresivi și să arate că și o singură tobă poate susține întreaga „paradă”!

O mică sugestie de interpretare:
Stai drept, cântă cu mândrie și, dacă îți scapă vreun băț… recuperează-l cu stil!

The symphonic poem "Time Whipstock" was written for the Centenary of Jacobs School of Music while being a Fulbrighter, under the supervision of prof. Andrew MEAD, at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA.

It unfolds the historic line of the prestigious school with quotations from "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Pietro Mascagni (first opera staged there), "A Quiet Place Opera" (written by Leonard Bernstein at the same place) and "Hail to Old Indiana" University Hymn.

The performance of this work must take place outdoors, in the courtyard of the institution, around the carillon and should begin at either 11:50 a.m. or 11:50 p.m in order to synchronize measure 162 with the striking for 12:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.

(Note: Whipstocks and magnetic survey instruments are used to deflect the drill pipe from shore-based rigs to reach oil deposits offshore.)

Huge honor and responsibility to serve as vice-chair of the ECF Group. Many thanks to ECSA and looking forward to promoting its values!

Today, ECSA members elected a new Board of Directors for a period of three years. The new Board re-elected Helienne Lindvall (SKAP, Sweden) as ECSA President, after having already served for a first term from 2022 to 2025.

On Thursday morning, ECSA’s three committees, APCOE, FFACE, and ECF, elected their new Chairs and Vice-Chairs, who now form the new ECSA Board. This was followed by the election of our Alliance’s new President, Vice-Presidents, and Treasurer. We are pleased to announce that our new Board is composed of:

APCOE Committee (popular music):
· Chair: Helienne Lindvall (SKAP, Sweden)
· Vice-Chairs: Aafke Romeijn (BAM! Popauteurs, the Netherlands), Tobias Stigaard Stenkjær (DPA, Denmark)

ECF Committee (contemporary and classical music):
· Chair: Zahra Mani (Austrian Composers Association, Austria)
· Vice-Chairs: Niilo Tarnanen (Society of Finnish Composers, Finland), Vlad Răzvan Baciu (UCMR, Romania)

FFACE Committee (film and audiovisual music):
· Chair: Jesper Hansen (BFM, Denmark)
· Vice-Chairs: Anselm Kreuzer (Composers Club e.V., Germany), Johan van der Voet (BCMM, the Netherlands)

The elections took place in the frame of the biannual ECSA Session of 26 and 27 March, held at the MEDAA- Maison européenne des Auteurs et des Autrices in Brussels, Belgium. During the General Assembly, ECSA Members honoured outgoing ECSA Board member Luis Ivars with the title of Honorary Vice-President, in recognition of his longstanding and tremendous contributions to our Alliance.
ECSA is extremely grateful to all of the nine previous Board members for their invaluable work and their commitment to fight for the livelihoods of music authors over the last three years.

Hyperpolarization is a work dedicated to Ștefan Diaconu (piccolo, flute, blockflöte, voice) and Eugen-Bogdan Popa (cello, voice) and was written on a theme by Girolamo A. Frescobaldi. This piece proposes to the listener a journey through time, related to the action potential of neurons, which has 3 phases: depolarization, repolarization and hyperpolarization.

Starting from contemporaneity (1 - depolarization), we will be carried into the future (2 - repolarization). Suddenly, we are back to the first sounds once perceived by human kind, the sounds of nature (3 - hyperpolarization). Subsequently, these sound emblems will be enhanced, leading to the music of Girolamo Alessandro Frescobaldi 1583 -1643 (phase 3 to 1), from which we gradually propose another possible future, rooted in contemporaneity (1).

Beginning with the first phase of the action potential, we can explain the following: when the number of positive ions outside the neuron's membrane reaches a certain limit, the voltage channels open, allowing the positive natrium ions to enter the neuron's inner membrane. With the influx of natrium ions, the interior of the neuron depolarizes (1 - contemporaneity), and the electrical charge rises from about -70mV to +30mV.

Repolarization (2 - future) is the rapid return to the resting state by opening ion channels that allow potassium ions to exit the soma of the neuron.
As the potassium ions leave the neuron, there is an increase in negative electrical charge, below resting state, which is in fact hyperpolarization (3 - nature sounds and later Frescobaldi in the present piece), i.e. -90mV so below resting state.

Subsequent to hyperpolarization, the neuron must return to the resting electrical charge of -70mV before it can produce a new action potential, in other words: "Search the past (Hyperpolarization) if you want to predict the future" - Confucius.

Toamna aceasta, la Chişinău, am avut marea bucurie să primesc prestigiosul premiu al Uniunii Compozitorilor și Muzicologilor din Moldova. Mulțumesc domnului președinte, Paul Gamurari, maestrului Ghenadie Ciobanu şi iubitei mele soții, Larisa Alexandra Scumpu pentru susținere! Felicitări colegilor și cât mai multă inspirație şi putere de muncă tuturor!

🎼Cea de-a șaptea ediție a programului de instruire , organizat de Institutul Cultural Român, se încheie cu două concerte susținute de tinerii muzicieni participanți la program: sâmbătă, 13 iulie, ora 17.00, la Palatul Mogoșoaia și duminică, 14 iulie, ora 19.00, la Sala George Enescu a Universității Naționale de Muzică din București. Intrarea este liberă la ambele concerte, în limita locurilor disponibile.

🎻Concertul de duminică, 14 iulie, ora 19.00, de la Sala George Enescu a Universității Naționale de Muzică din Bucureștiva avea loc sub bagheta dr. Peter Stark și va cuprinde lucrări de Jacques Ibert – Divertisment și Francis Poulenc – Sinfonietta.

🎹Tinerii muzicieni din România și Republica Moldova participanți la programul 2024 vor susține și un recital de cameră sâmbătă, 13 iulie 2024, ora 17.00, în Sala Scoarțelor a Centrului Cultural Palatele Brâncoveneşti de la Mogoşoaia. Vor putea fi ascultate lucrări de Destenay, Ginastera, Schumann, Borodin și Debussy.
