Today was quite scary. 40C degrees is no joke.

How ironic after the announce a ban on working outside during the hours of 1000 - 1530 to combat heat stress I would experience something that I have never gone through before.

Even though I didn’t start the job until 1530, one hour in I came down with severe heat exhaustion. It started with me having to take two minutes in the shade then rapidly escalated to severe cramps in my hands and legs. Dizziness, wanting to lie down, just pure shutdown of my body.

The reason for this post is to not only highlight the very real risk of heat stress in the Middle East but also to take a moment to thank the amazing Qatari family who was my customer at the time.

I was helped in my moment of need by Nasser and his brother. Providing cold drinks, insisting on me taking time out, producing a bowl of water for my hands to soak in which were clasped so tightly together with the cramps that I couldn’t even hold a cup. Your help today was much appreciated. Thank you.

What a big day for us today. We happily accepted a customer’s request to carry out exterior window cleaning for their lovely, but big villa 😅. This included the cleaning of their glass roof.
