As Nigerians in Diaspora Organization, Qatar NidoQatar NidoQatar gear towards their general elections in February, screening of contestants commenced today during its general assembly.
The following persons appeared before the general assembly to present their Manifesto.
1. Atoyebi Azeez Olaniyi
2. Donatus Ikechukwu Ironcho
3. Kevin Okoro
4. Ransome Kelechi Dick
5. Kate Ihechukwu Osagie
6. Victoria Emhokhor
The electoral committee and community members took turns in the interrogation of the candidates.
Some of the questions asked during the screening exercise centered around their aspirations for the community and how they intend to implement the same.
One of the contestants was interrogated on issues relating to certain petitions made against some members of the current excos. According to the speaker, the petitioner alleged that there has been a misappropriation of certain monies in the tune of over Seventy Thousand Qatar Riyals of public funds. The speaker probed the candidate's role in the investigation of the allegations. The candidate however confirmed that the investigation is currently ongoing.
Sources close to the NidoQatar executives reveals that there has been multiple petitions against some of the candidates in recent days. Some person have also written open letters to some of the candidates, according to reports.
As Doha Adverts continues to follow up with the election process, more updates shall unfold.

As the Nigerian community in Qatar (NIDO-QATAR) prepare for it's General Elections, Interested members of the Community have started articulating their interests for various positions.
The General Elections which is scheduled for 9th February 2024 in Doha has witnessed a number of contestants comprising of current NIDO executives and other new members of the community locking heads.
Among the most competitive positions is that of the Secretary General where two major contestants are seeking the votes of community members.
During a recent interview with One of the contestants Mr. Walter Emwanta Erhahon, it was gathered that he has made remarkable efforts within the community.
Mr. Walter is a digital communication specialist , an event expert and a media personality graduated from the prestigious Bowen University IWO, Osun state in Nigeria with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Media studies.
He told Doha news that during his early professional career, he practiced as a broadcaster on radio and TV respectively before migrating to Qatar.
He stressed the need to strengthen communication gap between members of the Nigerian Community, the executives, Embassy and other relevant ministries both in Nigeria and Qatar.
*"I want to bring my expertise both as a communication expert and media personality to build a strong relationship with the Qatar government and attract opportunities to the Nigerian Community."*
He further emphasised on the need for community engagement in Qatar where Nigerians can key into and become relevant in government and other social activities in Qatar.
In his final remarks , he said
"*All these things are possible with the right approach and I'm confident I'll do better in the Secretariat duties of NidoQatar "*
As the election date draws closer, Doha news continues to engage the contestants as they their plans for the community.
