okay so I finally did the thing I'd been avoiding for approximately one million years.
I pointed Claude at my Downloads folder. 😭
My assistant opened it and said, and I quote: "ok this is a crime scene."
she wasn't wrong. We're talking screenshots named "Screenshot 2023-04-17 at 9.43.21 AM" times forty. A zip file I was scared to open. A PDF that just said "important" with no other context. seven files called "Untitled." Things from 2021 I cannot explain. 💀 lol
I gave it one instruction: sort the files into categories, rename everything consistently, pull any financial stuff into a spreadsheet, make a list of what can safely go.
Then I made a coffee and genuinely forgot about it.
When I came back ✨
✅ Subfolders, everything sorted into categories
✅ Files renamed consistently
✅ Financial data pulled into a spreadsheet
✅ Cleanup list ready to go
All of it. While I was standing in my kitchen doing nothing.
I sat there like -_- 😂
Because it's not really about the folder. The folder is just the thing that makes it click. Once you see it work on something concrete and annoying, you start looking at everything you do manually and going — wait, is *this* just a Cowork problem?
inbox? Cowork problem. Research? Cowork problem. Client notes you keep meaning to organise? You get it. ⚡️
You need Claude Desktop (paid plan, ~$20/m — if it saves you a few hours a week the maths is embarrassingly obvious) and Cowork mode on.
What's the thing that's been sitting in your mental to-do list for six months? Drop it 👇🏻 and I'll tell you if you can do it with Claude Cowork.
A girl I was seeing once told me she was interested in open relationships. I had a LOT of feelings come up. So I dug into them. Turned out it wasn't really about her at all it was about feeling not good enough/unwanted/a disappointment.
Every time you feel discomfort, it's a chance to get curious about why.
idk what to tell you fam but the older I get the more I think most "burnout" is your soul telling you the work isn't yours.
I once told a friend "yeah it's OK to feel gay feelings, you just shouldn't act on them." I was 25, I was gay, and I was being a perfect parrot for my dad. The cosmic joke now is: I'm 41, very much acting on it LOL
Most people set goals from memory — things they already know how to do. Goals that fit inside who they already are. That's not reinvention. That's maintenance.
Did stand-up comedy in Auckland for a few years in my 20s. People always told me afterwards "I don't usually like female comedians but you were funny!" Sir. That is not a compliment. Go and f**k right off.
I won "Travel Agent of the Year" in New Zealand once. Looked at the company books, did the math on what I was making for them vs me, and politely quit. Started a business importing bean bags from China to NZ shortly after with absolutely no idea what I was doing. Worth it.
Once watched an American woman in Bangkok train station SCREAMING at an employee because she'd missed her train. The whole station stared. Mortified for her. That is not how this works fam.
People ask "but how did you actually leave the church." 27 years of being told who I was, then one day going "nahhhhh actually this isn't it"

Went for a walk. The internet is too much for me lately and I needed some perspective. Let’s all touch grass 😅
