The amendment to the Portuguese Nationality Law has been approved by Parliament, but it is not yet in force.

The text still depends on review by the President of Portugal, enactment, and publication in the Official Gazette.

One key point deserves attention: the new law does not provide for a transition period. This means that, once published, the new rules may apply immediately.
