Cancer survivor fundraising for the Starship Foundation in partnership with Wallace Cotton. Hi, I'm Ruby Seeto. Thank you for your support.

I was 9 years old in 2006 when diagnosed with a rare liver cancer and had to have surgery and 12 months of chemo at Starship. I have remained healthy and happy every since my recovery, and to raise funds for Starship Foundation, Wallace Cotton have printed my drawings onto quality cotton tea towels.

As always, $6 from every tea towel and $4 from every washcloth set is donated directly to the Starship Foundation.

This year’s design is extra special, as 100% of proceeds will support a transformational Oncology Project at Starship Children’s Hospital, helping fund:

Every year, my collaboration with Wallace Cotton raises funds for a specific project that benefits the patients and families of Starship Children’s Hospital.

I am so proud to share that my 2024 Victoria Sponge design has been an incredible success, raising nearly $70,000 for Starship’s Home Hydration for Adolescents project in just six months! Along with a small private donation, these proceeds mean that the Starship Foundation can now fully fund the $71K total cost of the project.

For young cancer patients, this means dramatically reducing their time spent in hospital following chemotherapy, allowing them to receive part of their treatment in the comfort of their own homes.

Sally Wainhouse, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Starship, shared that “The home hydration service is growing rapidly, and we are successfully delivering home hydration to eligible patients.
Previously, these young people have had to spend 5 days in hospital to receive their chemotherapy. Now they need only come into clinic each day for a few hours, and are then able to go home to receive the rest of their hydration. The feedback we have received so far from young people and their whānau has been really positive overall. They have reported less side effects including better sleep, better nausea and vomiting control, better appetite, and they have been able to be around their whānau and friends more. We have now expanded the service to other chemotherapy protocols.”

A massive thank you to everyone who has bought a Victoria Sponge tea towel or wash cloth for supporting a cause so close to my heart and to Wallace Cotton for our ongoing partnership. You’re all making a difference to the lives of sick children families ❤
