The epic day when president of the Republic of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, former president visited our neighbourhood.

It was the 7/04/2021 and covid was still a nightmare. Gertrudes, best woman on earth, knock at my door to tell me The President was there. I didn’t bother dressing up, but I’ve got two presents to offer him.
🪴One was the Covid pot: even a virus might be an opportunity.
🏚️The other one was an affordable Portuguese house: a critique to the rocketing housing market in Lisbon.

Now he is out of office, yesterday we had elections… we are facing a serious far right threat. A threat to the people of Portugal…Africans and Brazilian descendants, Indians and Chinese people, European expats, Americans citizens… we are Portugal!

Before you go to elections again, on the 8th of February ask your self: who is Portugal made of? If you take immigrants away…Who is going to be your doctor? Your cook? Your employee? Your teacher? Your driver? Your tenants? Your artist?

I understand we need a change, oh we all do. But what change? Chasing immigrants is not a solution! Immigrants are not even the problem. The problem is the big corporations! A country to be for sale is a problem! Low income is a problem! Access to qualified education is a problem! That’s not because of immigrants and you know it.
