We break our fast to the sound of sirens.
We pray under broken skies.
We smile through pain.
No lights.
No safety.
Still… faith.
Ramadan in Gaza is not about food.
It’s about survival.
It’s about dignity.
It’s about hope that refuses to die.
Pray for Gaza.
Stand for humanity.

Today, I am pleased to participate in the dialogue session with donors and decision-makers organized by the United Nations, which brought together representatives of international and local organizations to discuss pressing humanitarian priorities.

The title of my talk was:
"Restoring Hope for Youth in Gaza: Education and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as a Model."

This participation represents an opportunity to amplify the voices of youth and persons with disabilities and to emphasize the importance of investing in education as a fundamental pillar for building a just and sustainable future.

The image shows a man with an amputated leg walking on crude crutches in the middle of the street. His worn and dusty clothes reflect the harsh reality he lives in. Yet, every step on the sand speaks of defiance—defying disability, defying hardship—as if he is telling the world: “I am still standing, I am still moving forward.”

This picture is not only about the loss of a limb, but about the power of will and the daily struggle to live with dignity. It is a living testimony of the suffering of people in war and under siege, and of the human ability to create life out of the ruins.

There is another war in Gaza besides the war of bombs -

a war of hunger, scarcity of financial resources, rising prices due to the scarcity of goods,

and the closure of border crossings.

Of course, this is another model, in a different form and more relatable:

Talking to children about the concepts of protection, respect, and equality is an important part of building a new awareness that protects and empowers them.

Every child deserves to live in safety and know their rights.

470 يوم من القهر والوجع والجوع والخوف، 470 يوم مليانين دموع وحزن وضيق وحصار وخراب، 470 يوم شُفنا فيهم الموت بكل أشكاله، تهجير ودمار وخذلان من القريب قبل البعيد. حرب غزة ما كانت أيام، كانت عمر كامل انسرق من حياتنا.

تخيلنا فيها أيام ما شفنا فيها شمس، وصحينا على أصوات انفجارات بتشيل راحتنا وكل ما نضحك، كانت لحظة بتقطع القلب. شوارعنا كانت خالية، البيوت راحت والأحلام تحطمت، والموت ما كان له عنوان، بييجي من أي مكان. عيشنا ألم الفقد، وعشنا مرارة الوحدة، وقلبنا كان معلق بين الأمل والخوف. بس بالنهاية، خلاص، راحوا كتير، وفقدنا كتير. وكل يوم بنعيش في ظل الذكريات والأحزان، لكن رغم كل اللي صار، بنظل نتمسك بالحياة والأمل، لأنه ما في شي بيقدر يكسرنا.470 يوم من القهر والوجع والجوع والخوف، 470 يوم مليانين دموع وحزن وضيق وحصار وخراب، 470 يوم شُفنا فيهم الموت بكل أشكاله، تهجير ودمار وخذلان من القريب قبل البعيد. حرب غزة ما كانت أيام، كانت عمر كامل انسرق من حياتنا.
