تواصل إسرائيل تصعيد حرب الإبادة الجماعية في غزة، حيث استشهد خلال الـ48 ساعة الماضية 21 فلسطينياً، بينهم 5 أطفال وسيدتان، وأصيب العشرات جراء القصف المتواصل على المناطق السكنية والخيام.
ليلة عيد الأضحى، قصفت قوات الاحتلال منزلاً قرب برج الإسراء وسط مدينة غزة، ما أدى لاستشهاد 10 مدنيين دفعة واحدة، بينهم أطفال ونساء، بينما انهارت أجزاء من المنزل على خيام النازحين المحيطة به.

Issam Younis, Director of the Palestinian Human Rights Organisation Al Mezan explains how three of the most renowned Palestinian Human Rights Organisations have been sanctioned by the United States because of their collaboration with the International Crime Court.

“It’s part of a broader intimidation campaign against the International Crime Court, its judges, prosecutors and broader civil society.” Issam Younis, Director of the Palestinian Human Rights Organisation Al Mezan explains how three of the most renowned Palestinian Human Rights Organisations have been sanctioned by the United States because of their collaboration with the International Crime Court. These three organisations are vital in mapping Israeli crimes on the Palestinians in the Westbank and Gaza. As a result of the sanctions, their workers haven’t been able to receive their pay checks and have been working without wages. Meanwhile, Francesca Albanese was also sanctioned by the United States and is not able to open a simple bank account in her home country, Italy. US sanctions shouldn’t be able to affect European nationals or their partners. There are systems in place (EU blocking statute) that should protect our citizens from extraterritorial sanctions by third countries, but in practice, the US is simply able to sanction EU citizens, institutions and their partners without pushback from the European Union. This assault on International Law and European sovereignty is already having a chilling effect on civil society, with organisations and individuals already staying away from working with the ICC.
