One of my favorite interviews. Claudia first amazed me when I saw her get up and speak at an education conference in Condado, PR. I believe she was 16/17 at the time. Hearing her perspective on the school closings and privatization as a student was inspiring and I knew we needed to amplify her voice in our documentary.

The fight to save our resources continues. Privatization has run rampant in Puerto Rico, not only of our schools, but also our coastlines, beaches and now our energy.

This week, Puerto Rico’s electrical grid was privatized. A 15 year contract – worth hundreds of millions of dollars – was signed with the agency LUMA Energy without addressing public concerns and without responding to activists and organizers who oppose the move.
