Lo que más he aprendido traduciendo es a escuchar la diferencia. Saber que hay otras culturas, otros modos de pensar y ver el mundo y que todos pueden enseñarnos algo cada día es fundamental. Aunque sea a la contra. Traducir es dialogar, no comulgar con el otro. Hay quienes viven la traducción como una manera de ampliar sus conocimientos sobre el mundo. Es cierto que puede funcionar así, pero, al mismo tiempo, traducir permite hacer revivir en nuestra propia lengua un aspecto concreto, no generalizable, pero más real, porque nos toca de cerca, como individualidades irrenunciables y eso es más importante porque, en cualquier caso, por mucho que ampliemos nuestros conocimientos, el mundo es inabarcable.

Cada texto es único y, simultáneamente, es la traducción de otro texto. Ningún texto es enteramente original porque el lenguaje mismo, en su esencia, es ya una traducción: primero, del mundo no verbal y, después, porque cada signo y cada frase es la traducción de otro signo y de otra frase. Pero ese razonamiento puede invertirse sin perder validez: todos los textos son originales, porque cada traducción es distinta. Cada traducción es, hasta cierto punto, una invención y así constituye un texto único.

If someone would have asked me several years ago what an Interpreter was, I would have been clueless. Today I am grateful to say I am immensely passionate about this career and enjoy every second of my work. For those of you who do not know what an Interpreter is or what the difference is between translation and interpretation, you must watch this video.
