Planning our workflow. Floor plan for the new factory. I'm so very excited to see this new project take shape!

This building was designed as the main office of a school but doubled as a disaster proof building. The concrete is very thick, creating a thermal mass. We were in full sun and it was cool inside.

Stay tuned for a new chocolate journey!

This morning Francis was headed down the slopes of the farm before 7 to check up on some red bananas (apple bananas) and came accross an ancient looking cacao tree with very small fruit. Exploring and learning at Finca Familia followed by a dip in the river. Loving this life!

Using agroecology to oppose neo-colonialism 09/08/2017

A large part of aChocolypse moving to Puerto Rico is to deepen our connection with our food system and to join the agro-ecology revolution, bringing food sovereignty back to this island that currently imports almost all of its food and is deeply entrenched with the large agricultural pharmaceutical companies.

As we settle in to a 10 acre fruit farm in Mayaguez, we begin this journey by connecting with the land and learning the multifaceted marvel that is tropical agroforestry. Cacao and chocolate will be a part of this, but only one piece of the beautiful puzzle.

Stay tuned for more as we settle in at

Using agroecology to oppose neo-colonialism Findings from the Transitions to Agroecological Food Systems project, which is investigating potential pathways to more sustainable food systems through agroecology.

Y'all should hit up the Cooperativa Organica Madre Tierra at Roosevelt Plaza. We are serving up chilled handmade vegan chocolate drinks. We processed the beans at the house(made nibs which are for sale) and made the chocolate ganache, took 3 coconuts-made coco milk and a grip of almond- made almond milk. Put it all together. Bam. Yumness.
