Play a flute or clap your hands in front of ancient rock account, and the sound will reverberate around the space creating a cascade of echoes. That's no accident. ⁠ ⁠ Archaeologists have discovered that the location of rock art was precisely chosen, not just to showcase visual art but to maximise sounds. It started with a researcher who went through caves singing, and has now been verified by experiments that took hundreds of decibel samples, and found rock art was far more likely to be in an area with a strong acoustic phenomenon.
