📣 We landed on Discord!

Five months ago, together with a group of fantastic content creators, experts in Project and Product Management, we were launching our first PM Community Challenge on Instagram to connect and engage people around . An experiment that resulted in the outreach to over 8k people on IG and the validation of a need: there are many individuals like us looking for spaces to network, share, and learn about project and product management, communication, and leadership.

➡️ Here comes our response: a virtual community, hosted on Discord, where can find:

- a professional, safe space to network and talk about real professional experiences in different industries and countries;
- continuous learning opportunities;
- diverse perspectives on how to deal with their challenges.

After a first testing period with a closed group of early adopters, we are now ready to open access to our server.

What is a servant leader? What are the responsibilities of leaders today?

More and more it is becoming clear that one person can do very little in today’s fast-pacing, data driven world.

We need teams of people to handle complex topics and team members who are engaged, who are thinking, creating and being empowered to make definitions.

In that scenario, team leaders have to make sure that team members have everything that is necessary to achieve goals, set clear directions and leave team members to find how they can achieve those goals.

What is your definition of a servant leader? What you would add?

Importance of having trust in a team is easy to understand. However, the question is: “how we can translate this value to actual behavior”.

Trust means that „i trust you that you will do something”, but often we do not specify what that „something” means.

One great way to translate this conceptual value to actual behavior is through practice called “social contract”.

What to do if trust "does not work"?

Trust Is about building relations and proving that you are doing what you are saying.

It takes time, conversations, agreements and iterations.

Even if the Answer is complicated, it is definitely not in returning back to micromanagement.

Continue with honest talks, feedbacks and standing behind your words.

Use Escalation as absolutely the last choice, only if nothing else works.

Why it is so hard to trust to someone?

By giving control to your team members, and trusting them that they will perform well, you become vulnerable and dependent on your team.

However, that is the necessary step. You are still responsible for your team, but you do not control each step.

It is a hard task. it takes courage to trust to someone and give control away. That is where your courage and maturity comes in.

How do you pracise trust in your team?

If there is no trust, you easily get to:

1. Micro-management. You start to oversee every task, every move and you take responsibility for everything your team does.

2. "Treating people like kids”. Rather to converse and discuss, you are just telling to your team members what to do and try to simplify tasks too much. You do not allow them to think on their own.

3. Control over substance. You concentrate more on control and reporting than on actual work, progress and tasks.

4. Team members emotional detachment. In such circumstances, team members just stop to care and be involved. They will come to work just to finish 8 hours and at the same time search for something else.

5. Low motivation. Your team members will not be motivated to do things better, in a more efficient way or to contribute up to their full potential.
