Axis operandi

I recently recorded a podcast for the Pausa Pranzo series, hosted by my good friend Lukasz Sibiga. Pausa Pranzo roughly translates as ‘lunch break’ – the Italian equivalent of a siesta. It’s a key part of Italian culture, reflecting the Italians’ love of celebrating food and taking a moment to relax and unwind. That’s why the music featured on Pausa Pranzo revolves around various styles of house and disco, designed to transport the listener into a cocktail-fuelled, relaxing atmosphere 😎

Following this theme, I’ve recorded what is probably my most optimistic and sunny set yet. It’s mainly house in various shades. But as is usually the case with my sets, the energy builds gradually here. I particularly recommend it for the ongoing spring and the coming summer. Many thanks to Łukasz and Agi for the invitation. My latest podcast for Black Wave has just been released. Dear friends, thank you very much for the invitation—I truly appreciate what you do! And here we have an audio memoir from the last LAS Festival. A recording of our (me and MaL b2b as Malaxis) Saturday evening set from the Ritual stage (link in the comment). We warmed up the crowd from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, starting in daylight and finishing at night, which nicely reflects the musical journey as well. At times it gets dark, at times raw, sometimes atmospheric, sometimes more punchy. It’s great that this moment was captured and that we can share it with you. Enjoy the listen 🖤

Eng below. Długo zbierałem się w sobie do nagrania kolejnej kontynuacji miksu Return to Atlantis sprzed ponad roku. Zależało mi na tym aby wybrzmiała w nim transowa atlantyda. I taka okazja nadarzyła się przy okazji ostatniej Biotechnologia w krakowskiej Sekta Selekta Czułem, że to dobra noc i sprzyjający vibe na set wielogatunkowy niesiony transową energią. W środku trance zarówno w wersji progressive, goa jak i psychodelicznej. A także deep i minimal techno, progressive house, electro czy też leftfieldowy breakbeat. Zapraszam Was do sprawdzenia, bardzo miło wspominam sektowy parkiet tamtego wieczoru, lubię to nagranie i jego różnorodność, a zarazem dość spójny klimat.

It took me a long time to pull myself together to record the next installment of the Return to Atlantis mix, over a year since the last one. I really wanted it to reflect the trance-like essence of Atlantis. And the perfect opportunity came during the recent Biotechnologia event at Krakow’s Sekta Selekta. I felt it was a good night, with the right vibe for a multi-genre set driven by trance energy.

Inside, you’ll hear trance in its progressive, goa, and psychedelic forms — as well as deep and minimal techno, progressive house, electro, and even some leftfield breakbeat.

I invite you to give it a listen. I have very fond memories of that night on the Sekta dancefloor. I really like this recording — its variety, and at the same time, its surprisingly coherent atmosphere.

Eng below. W weekend miałem okazję zawitać do Crackhouse. Bardzo miła była to wycieczka. Mam z niej kilka pamiątek w tym tą najważniejszą w postaci nagrania z tej nocy. Czułem podczas grania świetny vibe, i mam nadzieje że słychać to w tym nagraniu. Zwyczajowo oddaje swoje sety do masteringu (ukłony dla szanownego mr. Mislaw, ktory zazwyczaj się tym zajmuje), ale tym razem chciałem oddać w pełni ducha tej nocy, a wiec wrzucilem nagranie prosto z rekordera uwzgledniajac także fakt że jeden z numerow jest trochę przesterowany. Tak dokladnie brzmialo to nagranie i ciesze sie ze moge sie z Wami nim podzielić. Crackhouse, dzieki za zapro. Jestem pod wielkim wrazeniem jak fajne miejsce na klubowej mapie Polski tworzycie.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit Crackhouse. It was a very nice trip. I have several souvenirs from it including the most important one in the form of a recording from that night. I felt a great vibe while playing, and I hope you can hear it in this recording. Typically I am giving my sets to mastering (respect for mr. Mislaw , who usually takes care of that), but this time I wanted to fully capture the spirit of the night, and so I uploaded the recording straight from the recorder, also taking into account the fact that one of the tracks is a bit distorted. This is exactly what the recording sounded like, and I’m happy to share it with you. Crackhouse, thank you for having me! Taking into account sound, people, venue and vibe - I am very impressed with what a cool place on the club map of Poland you are creating.
