Shot on Alexa 35 with Atlas Orion Anamorphic (25, 32, 40, 50, 65, 80, 100).

When the heart says anamorphic, but the brief says vertical. Why not both?
We did some tests in search of a fair compromise between both worlds. Here are the results:
Atlas Mercury 1.5× (Mini LF Open Gate):
– Classic anamorphic stays wide ≈2.15:1
– Rotating the lens brings the frame close to square, with a surprisingly usable crop for both 9:16 and 16:9
– Rotating both lens and camera lands just over 1:1, similar to previous one, but keeps the horizontal flare
Another worth mentioning option is Atlas Orion 2× (Mini S35):
– Classic setup goes ultra-wide ≈2.67:1
– Rotated lens gets closest to true vertical, with the least crop to 9:16
– Rotating both shifts the frame toward 3:2
