What makes our modern cities run? energy!
We can’t imagine a world without energy anytime at hand.
, however, got its first gas streetlights in 1856.
How this came about and how electricity changed our world forever can be studied in the Museum Gasworks Warsaw (Muzeum Gazowni Warszawskiej).
A study visit to this impressive and surprising museum concluded our Ukraine Culture Security Forum 2.0 in Warsaw. People in Ukraine understand the vital importance of energy as Russia systematically tries to destroy energy infrastructure.
A special thanks to Katarzyna Uroda - Lenartowicz and Justyna Hara and to the Fundacja ORLEN im. Ignacego Łukasiewicza (Fundacja ORLEN) for this visit and their support for OBMIN’s conference.

The new gold standard for Europe’s museums has a name: Panoptikum.
Day 2 of the Ukraine Culture Security Forum took us inside a 20,000 sqm masterpiece of engineering and conservation. Located near Warsaw, Panoptikum is Europe’s most modern Museum Competence Center, still to be opened officially, featuring:
• Next-Gen Restoration: Highly specialized workshops for diverse artifacts.
• Scale: One of Europe’s largest sterilization freezers.
• Sustainability: Fully powered by advanced passive energy technology.
* perfect storage: specialized, well protected storage facilities for different kinds of artifacts
• Global Impact: Acclaimed by international experts as the best facility of its kind.
Crucially, this visit allowed our Ukrainian partners to present their competence of cultural preservation in times of war
Huge thanks to the Narodowy Instytut Muzeówfor leading the way. The future of our past is in good hands.

Culture is not a luxury—it is a front line. 🛡️🇺🇦
Today in Warsaw, the 2nd Ukraine Culture Security Forum opened with a sobering reminder: Genocide is not just the physical extermination of a people; it is the systematic destruction of their culture, history, and identity.
As Poturaiev (Ukrainian Parliament) put it: "Russia is attempting to kill the very essence of what makes us human.”
The Highlights:
🔹 160 Experts & Officials from 7 nations gathering at the German Embassy in Warsaw. 🇺🇦🇵🇱🇩🇪🇧🇦🇪🇪🇫🇷🇸🇪
🔹 The Mission: Defending against "weaponized culture" and the disinformation warfare used to erase Ukrainian identity.
🔹 The Goal: Building a unified European front to protect our shared heritage as a pillar of national security.
Culture is the bedrock of our future. When we protect museums and history, we are protecting the future.

For the visual identity of this year’s events we chose a works by Leopold Levytsky (1906–1973) as a visual symbol of the meetings.
The second image comes from the artist's composition "In the Park", (1960), kept in collection of the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv (Національний музей у Львові імені Андрея Шептицького).
Levytsky was one of the distinctive figures of mid-20th-century Ukrainian art and an important voice in the wider Central and Eastern European avant-garde.
Born in the Ternopil region to a Polish father and Ukrainian mother, he studied at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts and later spent time in Paris, where he encountered modernist and avant-garde movements that strongly influenced his work.
In 1932, he co-founded the Kraków Group (Grupa Krakowska) together with artists such as Maria Jarema, Jonasz Stern, Henryk Wiciński, and Sasza Blonder.
The group brought together young avant-garde artists connected to the Kraków School, promoting experimental forms inspired by expressionism, cubism, and surrealism, and challenging the conservative artistic climate of the time.
Levytskyy maintained a close artistic friendship with Jonasz Stern and Maria Jarema, one of the leading sculptors and painters of the Polish avant-garde.
During the Soviet period in Lviv, Levytsky’s home became an informal meeting place for artists, writers, and intellectuals who gathered to discuss art and society despite the pressure of socialist realism.
In 2026, we mark the 120th anniversary of Levytsky’s birth.
The Ukraine Culture Security Forum 2.0 will be held in Warsaw 7-8 May
