How does Ukraine’s EU accession process look through regional analysis and comparative enlargement experience?

At the Centre for Eastern Studies (Ośrodek Studiów Wschodnich - OSW ), participants of the 9th edition looked at Ukraine’s path towards EU membership through regional dynamics, EU neighbourhood and enlargement policies, and the experience of the Western Balkans.

Together with Tadeusz Iwański and Marta Szpala, they discussed OSW’s analytical work, current developments in the region, and the challenges and opportunities that shape the next stages of Ukraine’s European integration.

Як процес вступу України до ЄС виглядає крізь призму регіонального аналізу та порівняльного досвіду розширення?

У Центрі східних досліджень (Ośrodek Studiów Wschodnich — OSW) учасники 9-ї сесії розглянули шлях України до членства в ЄС у контексті регіональної динаміки, політики сусідства та розширення ЄС, а також досвіду Західних Балкан.

Разом із Тадеушем Іванським та Мартою Шпалою вони обговорили аналітичну роботу OSW, актуальні процеси в регіоні, а також виклики й можливості, що визначають наступні етапи європейської інтеграції України.

From Poland’s EU membership experience to European border management — the 9th edition continued with two institutional visits in Warsaw.

At the Representation of the European Commission in Poland, participants met with Wojciech Wysocki to discuss Poland’s transformation after joining the EU and Ukraine’s accession challenges.

At Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, they learned about the Agency’s mandate, operational work, and cooperation with EU Member States and pre-accession countries.

Від досвіду членства Польщі в ЄС до європейського управління кордонами — 9-та сесія продовжилася двома інституційними візитами у Варшаві.

У Представництві Європейської Комісії в Польщі учасники зустрілися з Войцехом Висоцьким, щоб обговорити зміни в Польщі після вступу до ЄС та виклики України на шляху до членства.

У Frontex - Європейському агентстві прикордонної та берегової охорони - вони дізналися про мандат Агентства, його операційну діяльність і співпрацю з державами-членами ЄС та країнами на етапі підготовки до вступу.

Hands-on stations and a lively quiz made it easy to revisit key history, values, and decision-making processes.
A valuable visit that blended learning, team practice, and fresh insights.

🇪🇺 Нещодавно наші учасники відвідали Europa Experience Warsaw, щоб поглибити розуміння того, як працює Європейський Союз, в інтерактивному й відкритому форматі.
Практичні станції та жвавий квіз дали змогу повернутися до ключових тем історії, цінностей і процесів ухвалення рішень у ЄС.
Це був змістовний візит, який поєднав навчання, командну роботу та трохи дружнього змагання.

We are glad to welcome the participants of the 9th edition!

Today, a new group of Ukrainian public administration employees from central government bodies officially started the Tailored Onsite Knowledge and Analytical Skills Programme on European Integration at the College of Europe in Natolin.

This edition brings together 9 participants representing:
🔹State Audit Service of Ukraine;
🔹 State Customs Service of Ukraine;
🔹 State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine;
🔹 Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine;
🔹 State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety;
🔹 Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine;
🔹 Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

Over the next six weeks, participants will work on topics related to Cluster 4 — “Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity” and Cluster 5 — “Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion”.

We are very glad to welcome the new group and wish them a good start to the programme!

Сьогодні нова група українських працівників центральних органів державного управління офіційно розпочала навчання в межах Цільової програми з питань євроінтеграції у Коледжі Європи в Натоліні.
Цього разу програма об’єднує 9 учасників, які представляють:
🔹Державну аудиторську службу України;
🔹 Державну митну службу України;
🔹 Державне агентство водних ресурсів України;
🔹 Міністерство економіки, довкілля та сільського господарства України;
🔹 Державну службу України з безпеки на транспорті;
🔹Міністерство розвитку громад та територій України;
🔹 Урядовий офіс координації європейської та євроатлантичної інтеграції.

Протягом наступних шести тижнів учасники працюватимуть із темами Кластеру 4 — «Зелений порядок денний та стале з’єднання» і Кластеру 5 — «Ресурси, сільське господарство та згуртованість».

After completing the 8th edition of the Tailored Programme on European Integration, participants reflected on what was most useful for them.

For many, the programme was valuable not only because of the knowledge gained, but also because of its practical format — workshops, teamwork, individual tasks, and discussions with experts who had direct experience of EU accession processes.

The Tailored Onsite Knowledge and Analytical Skills Programme on European Integration is part of the EU-funded project “Natolin4Capacity Building Phase II – Strengthening Ukrainian Public Administration for EU Integration”. The project is jointly implemented by the College of Europe in Natolin and the High School of Public Governance, in cooperation with the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, under the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
