As part of another Erasmus+ project “Migrants of Migrants – M4M” a Guide to support professionals and volunteers from integration services for migrants and NGOs was created on how to implement a mentoring programme.

You can find the Guide here:https://www.kmop.gr/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/M4M_IO5_Guide_EN_vf.pdf

M4M is an EU-funded project that targets newly-arrived migrants and refugees in the process of settling in a new host country as well as Integration Services’ professionals and volunteers.

📣The STAGE project launches an innovative Web App to support migrants in their host countries. The app aims to enhance the digital and social skills of migrants, providing a platform to familiarize themselves with the language of the host country, and build networks in local communities. It includes a mentoring area, where migrants can get in touch with mentors to help them navigate their new environment. It also offers a service information area, providing useful links for migrants, and an interactive map to share stories and routes of migrants.

This innovative app has been developed in the framework of the Erasmus+ project “STAGE – SupporTing migrAnt inteGration and combating racism at local level through digital servicEs”.

➡️The Web App is available at webapp.stage-project.eu.

Empowering migrants into the EU job market 03/02/2023

As host societies, EU Member States are required to facilitate migrants integration, i.e. their acceptance in society and ability to access different services and the labour market. EU law envisages access to employment for refugees as soon as they are granted refugee status, or for asylum-seekers at the latest within nine months of lodging an asylum application.

Recognizing the need to design long-term approaches that bolster the resilience of refugees, the Turkish government has designed strong protection frameworks that grant access to education, the health system, social services, and the labour market. Since 2016, refugees can obtain a work permit through their employer.

Within the scope of this strategy, the ILO has, since 2015, been implementing seven projects, out of which four are still on-going. Two are funded by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Conflict, and two by the US Department of State Bureau of Population, Migration and Refugees.

270 Turkish, Iraqi, and Syrian children, aged 7-17 years, were trained on fundamental technical analogue photography in workshops held in 5 villages for 6 months. The workshops were part of a ‘Mobile Darkroom Photography’ project carried out by UNHCR and Sirkhane Darkroom, through the Art Anywhere Association. The children chose a selection of photos to be displayed at the ‘Life Through My Eyes’ exhibition which was held in Istanbul for World Refugee Day.

10 ways countries can help refugees integrate 19/10/2022

10 ways countries can help refugees integrate

Last year saw more than 1 million people cross the Mediterranean to Europe, fleeing their homes and the dire situations in Syria and Libya in search of international protection. While this is only a fraction of the numbers who remain displaced within the region, it represents a spike in refugees on European soil of a scale not witnessed since the Second World War.

10 ways countries can help refugees integrate Europe would do well to ensure refugees are best able to integrate – not only out of compassion, but also to enable them to contribute to their new host countries - as workers, as tax-payers and as consumers.
