🇵🇱How to study for free in Poland?
🆓 All foreigners in Poland, regardless of their nationality can study for free in Poland if they meet the requirement set by the Law on Higher Education and Science Article 324 Paragraph 2 Point 5. What does it actually mean? Every foreigner that holds a certificate confirming the knowledge of Polish as a foreign language at the level of at least C1 is not to be charged for studying in Polish.
🎓 How can you get that C1 certificate? You will take the exam after a one-year Polish language intensive course.
We invite you for the 800 hours - 10-month intensive Polish language course for foreigners. This course is designed ple who haven’t learned any Slavic language before or do not speak English well enough to undertake studies in English. You will learn Polish in small - max. 15-person groups.
🏫 Who organises the course: Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom
https://uniwersytetradom.pl
🏨 Where you will stay: On-campus student dormitories - double and single rooms available.
📝 What are the requirements?
Your high school diploma translated into English or Polish. (That will allow you to undertake studies in Poland after you finish the Polish language course).
Valid passport until at least 30.09.2024
💶 How much do you have to pay?
Course fee - 1800 EUR/full course - one academic year - October - June
On-campus accommodation - from 1500 EUR/10 months - October - June
All admin and legal fees - 1500 EUR (including application and admission fee, embassy appointment setting and visa document preparation fees, medical travel insurance for Poland for 12 months, legalization of your stay in Poland)
Cost of living - Radom, despite being only one hour from Warsaw has living costs almost 30% lower than the capital - your annual living costs excluding accommodation would vary from 3000 EUR to 5000 EUR per year.
Fees not included: ca. 80 EUR - visa application fee paid to the Polish Embassy by the applicant, ca. 75 EUR - Temporary Residence Card fee paid to the Central Government Administration after arrival to Poland.
❗️ Note: this is a very intensive Polish language course and is directed only at those who wish to master the Polish language to be able to use it freely and study in Polish later. After you pass the national examination at level C1 you can apply to any public university in Poland the same way Polish citizens apply and do not pay any tuition. What happens if you do not pass the exam at C1? If you pass the exam at B1 or B2 level you still will be able to study in Poland at any university in Polish. You will have access to all the universities’ courses offered in Polish - that are not even taught in English. However, with B1 or B2 certificate you may be charged the tuition fee which is still far lower than the fee for the same course taught in English.
Contact me Krzysztof Szymanski for this opportunity only if you have a real intention to study Polish and continue studying in Poland. This offer is also valid for foreigners currently living in Poland.

Before you receive an admission letter from a university you need to pay different fees. Apart from the tuition fee (yes, you have to pay that before receiving the admission letter - more about it later) you will have to pay the recruitment fee and sometimes an admission fee. Some universities may have some special requirements too so you need to be ready to pay more for other services too.
So let's look at what you have to pay in order to receive an admission letter from a university (in order of appearance):
1) Recruitment fee (sometimes called enrolment fee, administration fee, registration fee or admission fee) - this is the fee you need to pay when submitting your documents to a university. If it is required you need to pay it in order for the process to start. These fees are anything between 20 and 200 EUR (some universities decide to waive this fee). Remember - this is a non refundable fee so in case your visa is rejected you will not get it back.
2) Tuition fee - this is what you pay to study at a selected university. These fees vary and depending on the course and university can be anything between 1000 and 16000 EUR per year. Some universities require to pay the whole amount for a year and some allow to pay only for one semester only. This fee has to be paid before the university grants you the admission letter. Bear in mind that to apply for a student visa you will need to pay for at least one semester. This fee is refundable in case you receive student visa refusal - check the university regulations for the conditions of tuition refund.
3) Admission fee - after successful enrolment and offering you a conditional study offfer some universities also ask to pay them the admission fee. This fee is required to be paid in order to get your student status and vary between 0 and 600 EUR for some programs. This fee is usually non refundable so check with the selected university regulations for it.
Depending on the university and the program you may have to prepare yourself for additional fees in order to receive the admission letter. What are those:
• translation to English/Polish - if your gradaution documents are in a local language you will need to have them transated to English by a sworn translator. Some universities requeire that those documents are transaled to Polish by sworn translator. That adds to the cost of application and time needed to finalize your admission. These cost would be between 50 and 150 EUR depenging on the country and the number of documents to be translated.
• legalization of your diplomas - in most of the cases you will have to legalize your graduation documents in your country - that means you will have to pay for the legalization stamps from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legalization fees at the Polish embassy - legalization of one document cost around 30 EUR so be ready to pay anything between 30 and 100 EUR for the set of documents.
• notary costs - in some cases you will need to confirm your documents by a notary office, whether this are copies to be used later or for example contract of sponsorship of your studies and stay in Poland. Those would differ from coutnry to country so be ready to pay between 30 and 100 EUR.
• bank fees - remember, every time you send money to the university your bank will charge you a transfer fee and also will use their own exchange rates. Bear that in mind when sending your money to the university bank account in Poland - the bank fee would be anything between 20 and 50 EUR but also bear in mind that the exchange rate to Polish zloty may differ in a bank and you need to assume it to be around 5%. In case the university receives less money than the recruitment fee or less money the tuition fee states - the whole process would be put on stop.

INTERSTUDENT 2022: We know the best foreign students in Poland!

Despite the pandemic, the organizers received a record number of applications, and the selection of winners was difficult.
The INTERSTUDENT competition, organized by the Perspektywy Education Foundation as part of the "Study in Poland" program, carried out jointly with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP), has been used for twelve years to select the best foreign students studying at Polish universities. The jury selects the winners from among foreigners studying in Polish or a foreign language at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies at public and private universities.
- We are looking for young people from all over the world who, through their activities, build bridges between cultures, enriching not only Polish universities, but also their entire environment - says Dr. Bianka Siwińska, president of the Perspektywy Education Foundation. - They are the ambassadors of our universities and of Poland around the world. In times of a pandemic, their presence and activity is especially valuable. I am all the more glad that despite the difficult situation, we received over 80 applications and virtually all candidates were fantastic, and the jury had a great problem with selecting the winners!
During the session on January 10, the Competition Jury composed of: prof. Jerzy Lis, chairman of the Committee for International Cooperation of KRASP, rector of AGH, chairman of the Competition Jury, prof. Jarosław Bosy, rector of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Jarosław Olszewski, chairman of the National Representation of PhD Students, Mateusz Grochowski, chairman of the Students' Parliament of the Republic of Poland, and Dr. Bianka Siwińska, president of the Perspektywy Educational Foundation, after reviewing the applications, decided to award the title of laureates of the INTERSTUDENT 2022 Competition to the following foreign students::
in the bachelor's degree category: Karen Nyakato Kyabega from Tanzania, student of the Undergraduate Program in International Relations at the University of Warsaw,
in the master's degree category: Maksym Shcherbyuk from Ukraine, graduate of law at the University of Silesia in Katowice,
in the PhD studies category: Peliyagodage Chathura Dinerth Perera from Sri Lanka, PhD student at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław.
In addition, the Jury decided to award a Special Prize for extraordinary commitment in social activity. Its laureate was Yiyu Chen from China, a law student at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
The awards in the INTERSTUDENT 2022 competition will be presented during the next conference "Foreign students in Poland 2022" hosted by the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
