On behalf of Marshal Łukasz Smółka, Andrzej Bańka, Deputy Director at the Marshal’s Office of Małopolska Region, presented the special “Małopolska Innovation Champion” award for the most innovative solutions to the winning team of this year’s competition – EPFL XPLORE 🚀. He also presented a distinction to AGH Space Systems representing one of Małopolska’s prestigious universities.

🎓 Małopolska is home to numerous renowned universities educating young specialists who, like the members of AGH Space Systems, become the pride of our region. The space-focused educational offer is constantly growing – with Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza w Krakowie opening its Faculty of Space Technologies and launching dedicated programs and specializations.

🏫 Other Krakow universities, such as the Krakow University of Technology and the Jagiellonian University, also host student research groups devoted to space. Thanks to this rich academic environment, the Małopolska Region produces a steady stream of young professionals ready to power the space and near-space industries. Education, knowledge transfer, and support for innovative companies remain the foundations of our regional development policy.

In the panel “Space Industry – A Key Driver Of Economic And Technological Growth”, Andrzej Bańka, Deputy Director at Marshal's Office of the Małopolska Region, presented the region’s perspective on how space technologies bring innovation to everyday life and address global challenges.

🚀 With strong partnerships, membership in the NEREUS Association, and support for prestigious events like ERC, Małopolska is steadily building its position as a future leader of space technologies in Central and Eastern Europe.
