GIK Institute hosted the book launch ceremony of “Basics of Materials Thermodynamics” by distinguished scholars Prof. Syed Wilayat Husain and Prof. Ihtzaz Qamar. The ceremony was held at the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering on the sidelines of MTME‑2026.

The GIK Institute hosted an inspiring book launch event featuring eminent physicist Prof. Dr. Asghar Qadir, SI & HI, and his newly released autobiography, "Living Among Giants: The Autobiography of Asghar Qadir."
The event witnessed an impressive gathering of students and faculty, reflecting deep respect for Prof. Qadir’s lifelong contributions to science and academia. During the session, he engaged the audience with insightful excerpts from his book and recited selected poetry, offering a rare glimpse into his intellectual journey and creative pursuits.
Rector Prof. Fazal Khalid, SI delivered the concluding remarks of the event and paid tribute to Prof. Qadir’s invaluable services to the institute, the nation, and the global scientific community.

The 4th International Conference on Modern Technologies in Mechanical, Materials, and Chemical Engineering (MTME 2026) was inaugurated by an impactful keynote address from Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Prof Zia Ul Haq, S.I, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. He commended the GIK Institute for organizing a conference of international significance and excellence, reflecting Pakistan’s growing academic and research stature.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq articulated HEC’s strategic vision to transform the higher education landscape through enhanced research funding, global academic partnerships, and technology-driven initiatives. Emphasizing the critical role of research in national development, he urged engineers and scientists to focus on emerging domains such as renewable energy, advanced materials, and sustainable chemical processes to drive economic self-reliance and technological progress.
Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector of GIK Institute and Patron-in-Chief of MTME 2026, warmly received the distinguished guests, keynote speakers, and participants. In his remarks, he emphasized the critical intersection of mechanical, materials, and chemical engineering in addressing contemporary global challenges while reaffirming GIK Institute’s commitment to fostering innovation, research excellence, and sustainable technological development.
The two-day conference sets a strong platform for high-impact academic exchange, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, reinforcing the GIK Institute’s commitment to research excellence and sustainable technological advancement.

GIKI hosted Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore along with a distinguished delegation of UET Lahore. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector of GIK Institute, along with the pro-rectors, deans, and heads of departments where both sides engaged in strategic discussions on strengthening academic collaboration, advancing research partnerships, and aligning institutional priorities with emerging global trends in engineering and technology.
The visit featured comprehensive discussions on engineering and technology education reforms, including curriculum modernization aligned with evolving industry needs, implementation of outcome-based education (OBE), and integration of emerging technologies into academic programs. Both institutions also emphasized strengthening industry-academia linkages to enhance student employability and applied research outcomes.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between GIK Institute and UET Lahore was also signed. The agreement establishes a formal framework to promote sustained collaboration in research, academic development, and innovation-driven initiatives.pk
